June 24 Zoom Session for Local Business Owners to Focus on ‘Renew Cook County’ Campaign

Please join the MPBHBA and 95th Street Business Association at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24, for the next virtual meeting for 19th Ward business owners. The guest speaker is Emily Pevnick, Senior Account Executive at Resolute Public Affairs, a public affairs consulting firm headquartered in Chicago.

Emily will be discussing Renew Cook County, a campaign to raise public awareness of Cook County’s property tax structure while highlighting the risks associated with the current assessment model. Renew Cook County challenges Cook County Assessor Fritz Kaegi’s methods and addresses his performance and approach, while demonstrating how commercial and industrial property owners do contribute a fair share of the overall tax burden. Renew Cook County serves as a critical information resource, highlighting the real-world impact of the Assessor’s policy decisions on economic recovery for individual municipalities, neighborhoods, small businesses, their employees and all residents in Cook County.

Get Set for Chicago Reopening June 26

Chicago will move into phase four of “Protecting Chicago” this Friday, June 26, on the same day as the rest of the State. The city’s guidelines are stricter than some of the State-issued rules.

Chicago businesses will be able to open at up to 25% capacity, with a maximum of 50 people indoors and 100 people outside. Face coverings will be required under most circumstances, along with a six-foot social distance requirement.

To help businesses navigate the new industry guidelines, the Chicago Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection will offer a series of webinars this week. Please note that some of these webinars were offered this morning but likely will be available as a recording prior to reopening.
