SBA announces reopening of PPP 

The Small Business Administration reopened the Paycheck Protection Program to new borrowers and some previous PPP borrows this week. This round of federal funding will provide up to $284 billion for small businesses, helping them to retain employees and meet other needed expenses.

$15K Grants for Food/Beverage Businesses Owned by Black or Indigenous Americans

The James Beard Foundation has created a fund to provide financial resources to food or beverage businesses that are majority owned by black and indigenous Americans. The fund serves to recognize the contributions these two communities have made to the modern food landscape, and to help rebuild the independent restaurant industry in the wake of the COVID pandemic. Qualifying businesses can apply for $15,000 in grant funding now through January 22, 2021.

Panel Discusses Economic Recovery for Blacks & Latinos

The Chicago Community Trust is sponsoring an initiative called Together We Rise, aimed at equitable economic recovery for Black and Latinx communities that have been devastated by the impact of COVID-19. You are invited to the first in a series of panel discussions to explore the region’s path forward to a just recovery. The conversation will be moderated by Helene Gayle, president and CEO of The Chicago Community Trust, and feature Gloria Castillo, director of Together We Rise, a multi-faceted initiative that will provide funding, encourage changes to business practices, and pursue policy reforms to ensure the region comes back from the impacts of COVID-19 better on the other side.
