Sign Up for ChiBiz Emergency Alerts

BACP and the City of Chicago’s Office of Emergency Management & Communications (OEMC) urge businesses to opt-in to receive targeted emergency alerts for the business community via CHIBIZ Emergency Alerts. If you are interested, please text “CHIBIZ” to 6-7-2-8-3 or visit the lion below.  It will take you through a simple registration that will allow the City to send an alert to businesses in targeted areas for severe weather, fire, medical emergency or public safety disturbance that may impact business operations.

The City of Chicago is sharing these additional resources from OEMC to allow business owners to interface with our public safety departments:
  • City of Chicago’s Chicago Public and Private Partnership (CP3) portal: The CP3 portal serves as a single site to submit information for OEMC, the Chicago Fire Department (CFD), the Chicago Department of Public Health (CDPH) and the Chicago Police Department (CPD) related to your building. This includes contact information, floor plans, emergency plans, security plans, and other emergency response and management related files. This information will support first responders as they respond to incidents and assist emergency management executives in the development of citywide response plans. In addition, CP3 partners have access to an array of resource documents regarding general security measures and emergency planning. Become a registered user by clicking here.
  • OEMC’s Private Sector Camera Initiative: If your business is interested in providing public way access of your external-facing cameras to the City of Chicago, please email Jocelyne Williams from OEMC.
  • NotifyChicago: This city service sends residents text messages and/or e-mail alerts for emergencies such as severe weather notices, hazardous materials, traffic impacts, etc. OEMC urges residents and businesses to subscribe to receive alerts sent directly to mobile phones or email accounts to stay informed. To subscribe, please visit NotifyChicago.org

Finally, we would like to remind businesses that the city is operating under a curfew for all residents and visitors effective from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. until further notice. As Chicago completes the transition to phase three, this curfew means that any business that has been deemed non-essential and is now eligible to cautiously reopen must close between 9:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. for the duration of the curfew. This includes restaurants that are eligible to reopen for outdoor dining. Essential businesses, such as grocery stores and pharmacies, are exempt from the curfew.
