Smith Living Supports Local Businesses with Employee Gifts

The Board of Trustees for Smith Senior Living, which sponsors Smith Village in Beverly/Morgan Park, has collaborated with local businesses to thank employees for their exceptional service and dedication to residents during this extraordinary time.

Smith trustees arranged for each employee to receive The Bucks Stay Here, a community gift card redeemable at more than 55 businesses in the 19th Ward. In total, this employee gift certificate program will drive more than $12,000 into the local economy.

“We are so proud of how Smith staff members have risen to face unprecedented challenges this year. Keeping our residents safe during the COVID-19 pandemic has required a truly extraordinary level of commitment and care,” says Kay E. Thurn, chair of Smith Senior Living Board of Trustees.

“We decided to reward our dedicated professionals while also supporting neighboring businesses during these difficult times. We believe our approach to spreading holiday cheer will have a ripple effect that benefits even more people,” adds Thurn, who acknowledges cancelling the Board’s popular holiday party on each campus motivated trustees to find a fresh way to say thank you to staff members.

Smith Senior Living, a not-for-profit organization serving older adults since 1924, sponsors Smith Village in Chicago’s Beverly/Morgan Park neighborhood and Smith Crossing in Orland Park, Ill. They are the only life plan communities in the southwest sector of metropolitan Chicago.

The MPBHBA appreciates the Smith Senior Living Board of Trustees’ generous gift for their employees and is grateful for its support of the local business community. Also, special thanks to Smith Village Executive Director Marti Jatis and Smith Senior Living President and CEO Kevin McGee for their continued support of the MPBHBA and 19th Ward business community.
