Wound Care

Arterial Ulcer Series

Wound Care | published on 9/28/20

In the U.S., arterial (ischemic) ulcers pose the largest financial burden per wound compared to other chronic ulcers. In addition, people with arterial ulcers are at increased risk for lower limb amputation. The 5-year mortality rate after major amputation among these patients is about 70%, that is, twice the 5-year cancer mortality rate in the U.S.

The Arterial Ulcer Series provides an evidence-based review and clinical framework for assessment and management of arterial ulcers, with algorithms for use at the point-of-care. Topics also include guidance on noninvasive arterial testing, documentation, coding, quality measures and reimbursement, and a concise summary.
