Planning Permission at Village Road

With the death of Queen Elizabeth II, September 2022 was a significant month for the country and a moment when the we all reflected on a long and well-lived life, and gave thanks for her many year's of service.

Here at pad, our latest monthly newsletter provides a quick update on several of our projects and a recent photo from one of our historic sites. September saw the granting of full planning permission for re-development of land at Village Road, Cheltenham. We were pleased to have worked with Countryside Partnerships on this one, which will see an under-utilised employment site deliver 71 new homes. The application streetscenes (above) are designed as a contextually responsive approach to the established residential area in the north-western part of the town. Reserved Matters were also granted this month at Ashleworth for Redcliffe Homes, and for 41 new homes at Lea Road, Tiverton for Bellway.

In recent weeks we have been pleased to welcome our latest recruit, Choolwe Lourens, who joins us in a Part 2 Architectural Assistant role having recently completed the Master of Architecture qualification. And finally, we wish our colleague Simon Rowe and his wife Catherine all the best on their honeymoon this month.

Land off Rectory Close
We were pleased to see the Reserved Matters submission by Redcliffe Homes approved at committee last month. This development is set to provide a further 42 new homes at Ashleworth, Gloucestershire as an integrated second phase, delivering a logical and well connected extension to the village.
Creedy Bridge
Over recent months we have been assisting Bellway with a Reserved Matters submission for 257 new homes at the Mid-Devon town of Crediton. In discussion with the local authority, refinements have been made to the development area, layout and architectural style to help ensure a locally distinctive development is delivered.

This months revisited feature is Lyde Green, a major development within South Gloucestershire on the north-eastern edge of Bristol. We undertook the Reserved Matters design for a parcel of 129 dwellings on behalf of Barratt Homes almost a decade ago. The maturing street trees and boundary treatments now help to create a vibrant townscape in what was the last of the summer sun.
