3 in 5 of our clients is experiencing Domestic Violence.
This year we are delving into a greater focus on Domestic Violence. In 2021, we aim to be a safe space for clients in, physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering, including threats of such acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivations of liberty, whether occurring in public or private life.
As of December 2020 we received a grant from the NSW Department of Communities and Justice to ensure that we are able to have focused support on clients struggling with Domestic Violence. This means that we have specialists and professional training throughout the year to ensure staff and mentors are trained and equipped to recognise and support flags of abuse.
Our clients are extremely vulnerable to the effects of domestic violence whether they are pregnant, post-natal or post-abortive. It is extremely important for us to provide the most appropriate support for our clients in such circumstances as this determines their mental health, physical safety, life choices and consequently their quality of life.
