Today, crews will be installing tuff posts during the day to delineate the protected bike lane. The hash marks for the protected bike lanes will be done at a later date.

This weekend, crews plan to pave the intersection of Beacon Ave S and S Columbian Way. Expect intersection closures and traffic delays.

Crews plan to finish striping S Columbian Way and S Alaska St, east of Beacon Ave S next week. This work will happen at night. We will share the schedule for striping S Columbian Way west of Beacon Ave S when it is available.

Striping on S Columbian Way / S Alaska St. What to expect:
  • Work is scheduled for the week of June 3
  • Work will not be very noisy, but expect strong odors
  • There will be lane shifts and flaggers to help direct traffic around work areas, which will be coned off
After striping and intersection work is complete, crews will:
  • Clean up the work area
  • Install remaining topsoil and seed grass in planting areas
  • Install street signs
  • Update any remaining non-ADA compliant curb ramps and sidewalks
Biking through the work area: During this work, crews will need to close sections of the bike lanes on S Columbian Way to ensure they have enough space to complete work safely. We ask people biking to merge with general traffic when riding through the work area.
