Welcome to Part 2 of the September edition of the Pyramid Post.

We've got so much going on this month, we're sending out a second edition of the PP!

Monday to Friday  |   10am - 3pm
We were really pleased to see so many people come into The Pyramid for the Glasgow Door's Open Days Festival to see our mini-exhibition of recently discovered slides that depict the construction of The Pyramid and the changing landscape of Anderston in the late 1960s.

We've decided to keep our exhibition open for anyone who would like to see the pictures. Please call us on 0141 226 3277 first to make sure there are staff in The Pyramid to give you access to the exhibition.

Some comments made by our visitors last weekend:
"Brilliant! Brought back loads of memories"
"Incredible building & the photos are an amazing find. Can't wait to see The Pyramid flourish!"
"Absolutely loved looking at how The Pyramid evolved from being a church to a community hub loved by everyone."
"Such a peaceful space and loved the photos from throughout the years, thank you for being open today!"

Check out this Glasgow Live article about our 1960's Anderston exhibition.
STV News recently came along to meet some of the amazing ladies at the Women's Integration Network and to see some of the incredible work they're doing to support women in Glasgow and to cover the Global Seeds Harvest Event.

The Global Seeds Harvest Event was part of the Dandelion Festival 2022 - we enjoyed dishes from around the world cooked by WIN members using produce grown in our raised bed planters over summer 2022. There was music, food, crafts and laughter and everyone had a great day!

Watch the STV coverage here.

Sat 8 & Sun 9 October 2022  | 10am - 4pm

Designed and made in Scotland exclusively for our building - we'd love some of our beautiful mid-century chairs to find new homes and a new lease of life!

Join us for this weekend workshop, hosted as part of Community Land Week 2022 - on Sat 8 & Sun 9 October. We're working in partnership with furniture makers from GalGael - who'll show you how to restore and upholster your very own bent wood chair, and then you'll get to take it home!

The chairs were originally used as seating when our building was a church; they make perfect dining chairs or occasional seating around the house, studio or office - don't miss your chance to own a unique piece of furniture. We would like our chairs to go to good, loving new homes - and not be used for resale or for commercial reasons.

Please only sign up if you're planning to keep and look after your chair!

Coxes Orange Pippins are now growing in Anderston!

Thanks to Anderston Green Spaces and all the volunteers helped to plant apple and pear trees on Sat 17 Sept in the new community garden at the garden at the corner of Elderslie St & William St. This is the beginning of a new community garden space in Anderston - developed from Glasgow City Council Improving Green Spaces Fund.

We're looking forward to blossom in the spring and some more fruit next year!

Friday 30 September : 3 - 5pm  |  Over 50s  |  FREE

Pop along to The Pyramid for the Let’s Get Together Club. We’ll be playing a few games of Boccia before sitting down to enjoy Bushra’s delicious homemade snacks and have a nice cup of tea and a chat!

Boccia is probably the most accessible game in the world. It is a precision ball sport - related to bowls and pétanque. It is fun to play, and all players remain seated throughout the game - making it a perfect sport for those with reduced mobility.

The group is run by local community members and is a welcoming sociable event aimed at those over the age of 50 - encouraging people to take part in gentle exercise activities and share food and conversation together.

There’s no need to book in – just turn up on the day!

Sunday 2 October | 12noon - 4pm

Pop along to the first Anderston Fun Palace at The Pyramid - an afternoon celebrating and sharing the skills, talents and hobbies of our community members!

Join Hugh for a game of carpet bowls. Make chapatis with Bushra. Prepare face masks with Mouna. Crochet a flower with Allison & Izzy. Plant seeds to grow on your window sill with Anderston Green Spaces.

No need to book ahead – just drop in and try out something new… Tea, coffee and snacks available all afternoon too!

Mon 3 Oct  |  9.15 - 10.15am  |  First 2 classes FREE then £1 per class

Starting on Monday 3 October - Chair Yoga will be running from 9.15 til 10.15am. Just come along in comfy clothes - no equipment required!

Chair yoga adapts traditional poses to make yoga more accessible for people who cannot stand for long periods. It’s a brilliant way to stay supple, and Caroline’s classes are social and friendly. Here’s what some people who have been along to the classes said about them:

"We enjoy the class, not just for the exercise - but because it is a social event. It is something to look forward to - that gets us up and motivated for the day."

"As well as practicing movements that help to keep our bodies fitter - Caroline is also teaching us things about our bodies, we are learning about our muscles - and how to keep them healthier, stronger and more supple."

"The class is relaxing, but it is also stimulating - we start at our feet, and go through all the bits and pieces of our body - right up to our brains! The class is great - because I don't have brain fog after I've been!"

No need to book ahead – just drop in!

Wed 5 Oct | 6-7pm  |  First class FREE then £2 per class
