Woolly News - June 2018

Summer is finally upon us and I hope you plan to bring your needle felt projects with you when up at the cottage, chillin' on the back porch, or staying cool inside to avoid the 3 Hs outside...I know I will be.

There's a lot going on for Woolly Doodles this summer! I'm a vendor at an Oakville outdoor craft market on June 9 and August 11. This will keep me busy needle felting products. I'm offering some workshops over the summer so look for these email newsletters with the scoop. Please note that this month's Needle Felt Together is on a Tuesday evening, June 19. And check out June's Needle Felt Tip at the bottom of the email.

Wool Paint Night

There are still spaces available in this Thursday's Wool Paint Night at Williams Fresh Cafe in Burlington.

What is a Wool Paint Night? It’s exactly like the Paint Nights that are super popular except instead of acrylic paint we use wool. This fun evening workshop will teach you to use a barbed needle to attach wool roving to a pre-felted wool sheet while sipping on a cup o’ joe or tea. When the evening is done, you will have made an amazing 8″ x 10″ sunset felt “painting.”

Adding Eyes To Your Needle Felt Project

To make the eyes, take a 4” length by .25” width piece of black wool. Split it in two keeping the length. On your mat, roll each piece into a ball and then roll into your fingers or hand to make it round. When you get 2 even shapes, using the 38-spiral needle, stab each one into the face shape above the nose where you desire. To add the white eye shine, grab a pinch of the core wool, split it in half, and roll in your fingers until you get a rounder shape. Then stab one each into the black eye shapes.
