Woolly News - Summer 2018

Boy oh boy, summer came in fast and furious and brought us hot, hot, and more hot! I hope you are all staying cool and working on super fun needle felt projects. I decided to combine the July and August newsletter as I got a bad summer-time head cold and it lasted for 2 weeks.

Now I'm back in action making lots of woolly goodies for 2 craft markets in August. I'm not teaching much over the summer but am offering 3 classes at Spun Fibre Arts in Bronte Village Oakville. If you want to have a needle felt party, get 4 or more of your friends and I will teach a private workshop. And if you want some company while working on your projects, there are Needle Felt Togethers in July and August. At the end of this email is a handy needle felt tip.

Stay cool and needle felt on!

Making Triangle Shaped Ears

Take two even strips of the wool that are about the same height and width. Fold them in half. Using your needle, make a triangle shape in the middle of your folded wool strip. Fold one side down along one edge and stab along the edge and to the middle. Then fold the other side down along the other edge and stab from the edge and middle. You should have a triangle shape with a fuzzy bottom. Leave the bottom un-felted as you will need to use this to felt the ears onto the core shape. If you have excess wool that you don’t need to attach the ears to the head, you can pull some of the extra wool off the un-felted end.
