WELCOME to your Spring CMP Newsletter!
ICNARC CMP Annual Meeting 2019
We’re now building up to this year’s CMP Annual Meeting, which takes place on Wednesday 1 May at The Mermaid, London. This year is a special meeting as at ICNARC we are celebrating our 25th anniversary!
We will be providing updates on developments in the CMP and showcasing our audit and research activities. With this being our 25th year, we will also be taking a retrospective look at critical care over the last 25 years, whilst also looking to the future.
As usual, there will be exhibitors, networking opportunities, the chance to meet your CMP Data Coordinator, and the CMP prizes. We will also toast our anniversary at the post-meeting drinks reception!
Registration is now open, to confirm your place go to our website or click below to register today!
We look forward to seeing you all there!

Call for case studies

Have you used your CMP results to identify and implement local quality improvement?

We are looking for case studies which illustrate how participating units have used CMP data and analyses to improve patient care.

We would like to use these as a helpful resource to support other participating units by presenting them at our Annual Meeting, either as part of our programme, or displayed as posters in our exhibition space. If you would like to share your success stories, please go to our website here for more information.
Platform X – a new CMP platform!
Platform X is our new platform for the submission, validation and reporting of CMP data, and we are excited to report that the first stages of unit testing and onboarding are underway!
A small number of CMP participating units are currently helping with this initial real-world testing – in the first instance ensuring they can login and upload CMP data.
These units will process their data through both new and old systems in parallel to ensure the data quality from the new platform is as good, if not better, than the old.

The benefits of managing CMP participation through Platform X include:
  • Paperless system: in line with NHS targets;
  • Direct data upload: upload your data submission and updates directly into Platform X;
  • Online data validation: no more paper/ pdfs/ scanning/ uploading - get your instant online DVR as soon as you upload your data;
  • Customise your DVR for the stage of validation you are at: filter out outstanding outcome queries until nearer the end of the validation process, where most outcomes will have been completed by data upload; and
  • Faster processing: validate your data quicker, receive your QQR earlier!

We look forward to giving you a further update on Platform X at the ICNARC CMP Annual Meeting 2019 on Wednesday 1 May!
The POPPI Trial - results now published!
We are very pleased to report that the results of the POPPI Trial have now been published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), and have also been presented by Professor Kathy Rowan at the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) 48th Annual Congress in San Diego.
POPPI was carried out in 24 CMP participating critical care units, included 1,458 critically ill patients, and used CMP data in the analyses of results. The Trial set out to evaluate whether an early, nurse-led, preventive, complex psychological intervention reduces the development of patient-reported post-traumatic stress disorder symptom severity at six months.
To read more about the POPPI results go to our website, where a link to the JAMA article is also available.
A big thank you to all the units that participated!

CMP participation Stats
The high standard of participation continues unabated.
The overview of past periods is highly indicative of how efficiently the audit runs and the conscientiousness of our participants:
  • 98% of participating units have data completely clean up to June 2018
  • 91% of participating units have data completely clean up to September 2018
 As for the current quarter, October-December 2018 (Q3):
  • 86% of units have submitted data
  • 40% of units have already fully validated the quarter
We plan to run the Q3 QQRs in early March, so if you only have a few queries remaining now would be a great time to upload your DVRs to File Exchange or give your Data Coordinator a call.
As always, thanks very much for the hard work.
Welcome on board!
