Appointments at Sloan Hub reminder
We recently announced that cold Extended Access provision will be returning to the Sloan hub from 9th August however it is important to note that Sloan will also continue to operate as a ‘hot’ Covid site both in and out of hours. The site will operate in a way that means the patients of hot and cold clinics do not access the same areas of the surgery however we would ask for your support, by taking caution when booking into these clinics, to assist us in maintaining separation for those attending the clinics.
Shortly, the SystmOne and EMIS modules used for remote booking to Sloan clinics, named ‘PCS Covid hubs’, will revert back to the original name ‘Sloan Hub’.
In order to assist you in differentiating between hot and cold GP ledgers when booking an appointment using SystmOne or EMIS, please refer to the guidance below:

The Session Name on SystmOne for cold and hot sessions are as follows:
Cold GP session:
Hot GP session:
Sloan COVID In Hour Hot Hub - COVID
Sloan COVID OOH Hot Hub
The Session Name on EMIS for cold and hot sessions are as follows:

Exploring new ways of increasing Primary Care capacity
We have still unfortunately been unable to secure the estates to offer an additional hot hub capacity in the city. The CCG in order to be pragmatic, are exploring the option of changing hot and cold hub capacity to a mixed use service. This will need infection control and senior sign off but we are keen to hear from you on two particular areas:

1. Your thoughts on a mixed-use model going forward
2. If you would like to propose an estate solution for the hub

Practice Nurse Portfolio Career Opportunity
PCS has for some time been keen to offer portfolio careers to support primary care in areas where recruitment is difficult. Thanks to a CCG initiative to increase uptake of SMI and LD physical health checks in the city, we have the opportunity to recruit a nurse lead role that will oversee a citywide health coach team. We’d be interested to hear from practices who are struggling to recruit a practice nurse who feel these additional development hours (around 1-2 days), would help their recruitment prospects if added to their practice role. We’d also be interested to here from any practice nurses working in the city already, who’d be interested in these additional hours to sit alongside their current role as part of their career development into leadership. Please email
For Information
Vulnerable Patient Vaccine Transport

Practices wishing to ensure their most vulnerable patients are able to travel to a designated vaccine centre (including Darnall PCC) are able to take advantage of a special fund provided by City Taxis.

Extended Access Hub usage by PCN
Latest breakdown of Extended Access hub usage covering July 2021. The report has been requested by PCNs to support understanding of hub usage and enable shared learning as we co-design the new extended access service.

STH Drive through blood tests

Please ensure patients requiring a blood test are aware that the drive through Phlebotomy service is no longer located at Longley Lane. The new location is now City Parkway, Parkway Avenue, Sheffield, S9 4WA (located between HSS Hire and Jewsons).
There have been a number of patients turn up at Longley Lane which has caused them inconvenience and whilst there is information and marshalls to re-direct them to City Parkway, it would be preferable for them to have the right location in the first instance.
Please see attached leaflet which you are welcome to print and provide to patients if you feel it would be helpful and we can also supply you with printed copies if that would help. Please contact: to request printed copies.
See attached poster here

Registering service development interests and expertise

As GP practices you came together to create PCS to do the things that you can't do alone. It's your organisation.

Our experience has shown that to deliver things the way you need them delivered we need to involve clinicians, managers and practice teams from the outset when services are being created.

Rather than wait until we have any specific project in the first stages of development, we would like to be pro-active and build up a register of those with an interest in future project development. So, if you have a specific area you are interested in then let us know so that we can contact you if input is needed in that area.

PCS 'drop-in' sessions

The PCS team is always keen to hear about anything you would like to raise with us in the way of feedback or any ideas you may have on how we might shape things going forwards.
Dr Andy Hilton and Nicki Doherty keep a lunch time 'drop in' slot available in their diary on Wednesday (Andy) and Friday (Nicki).  If you would like to catch-up with them in one of those, please simply click the button below, and we will get back to you to arrange that.

Please note that these 'drop-in' sessions are in addition to the 1:1 meetings we have been arranging with practices.
