New digital locum staff bank

A new digital locum staff bank for South Yorkshire & Bassetlaw has been developed and is available for use by practices.

Work is currently underway to set up all PCNs and Practices on the system and to get locums registered.

Set-up is very quick and easy (a 10–15-minute video call). Most practices simply email their rotas/gaps, and the team does the rest on your behalf.

De_ Stress pain study: What do you think about the distress caused by pain in your patients?

The De_STRESS Pain Study is looking for GPs who are willing to take part in a 30 minute interview (your time will be reimbursed). Click below for more details on our research page.

Transient Loss of Consciousness and Breathlessness ACP Planned Care FLOW programme

The Sheffield ACP Planned Care Programme has been exploring potential opportunities to improve outpatient pathways across Sheffield. Two pathways have been identified for development:

Breathlessness (incorporating respiratory and cardiology) and
Transient loss of consciousness (incorporating respiratory, cardiology and neurology).

There is some funding available to allow clinicians to work on the programme (until March 31st 2022). If you feel you may be interested – please complete the short survey in the service update.

The National GP Worklife Survey has been running for 20 years and provides the only consistent national picture of the working lives of GPs and how it is changing over time. It is particularly important at the moment because all of our working lives have been affected so profoundly by Covid-19.

Vaccine clinics that might be of interest to your patients

As part of our work to support practices with delivery of the vaccination programme for cohorts 10-12 we are hosting the following vaccination clinics. Please share details with any relevant patient groups.

Meadowhall Pop-up - Friday 27th and Saturday 28th August.
Location: Meadowhall, lower level Park Lane, near Costa Coffee.
Opening hours: Friday (2pm - 8pm) and Saturday (9am - 6pm).
Vaccine: Both 1^st & 2^nd doses of Pfizer & AZ vaccine are available.
Eligibility: 16yrs+

Darnall Primary Care Centre - Vaccination Centre
Location: Darnall Primary Care Centre, 290 Main Road, Darnall
Opening hours: Weekdays (7pm - 9pm) Weekends (9am - 4.30pm)
Vaccine: Both 1^st & 2^nd doses of Pfizer & AZ vaccine are available (AZ vaccine only available weekend mornings).
Eligibility: 16yrs+

Registering service development interests and expertise

As GP practices you came together to create PCS to do the things that you can't do alone. It's your organisation.

Our experience has shown that to deliver things the way you need them delivered we need to involve clinicians, managers and practice teams from the outset when services are being created.

Rather than wait until we have any specific project in the first stages of development, we would like to be pro-active and build up a register of those with an interest in future project development. So, if you have a specific area you are interested in then let us know so that we can contact you if input is needed in that area.

PCS 'drop-in' sessions

The PCS team is always keen to hear about anything you would like to raise with us in the way of feedback or any ideas you may have on how we might shape things going forwards.

Dr Andy Hilton and Nicki Doherty keep a lunch time 'drop in' slot available in their diary on Wednesday (Andy) and Friday (Nicki). If you would like to catch-up with them in one of those, please simply click the button below, and we will get back to you to arrange that.

Please note that these 'drop-in' sessions are in addition to the 1:1 meetings we have been arranging with practices.
