Relieving pressures on practices
We know from ongoing discussions with practices just how urgently extra capacity is needed to relieve some of the pressure you are all experiencing. We are looking at this closely with NHS Sheffield CCG in terms of what can be provided through our extended access hubs including ways that we can best change the skill-mix and range of appointments. We will be in contact shortly once we have an update.

Darnall Primary Care Vaccination Centre
Following requests for support from those PCNs which have decided against providing vaccination for cohorts 10-12 we have very rapidly mobilised our COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Darnall . The clinic is now open to walk-in patients from 7-9pm on weekdays and 9am-4.30pm at weekends and slightly longer hours for patients who pre-book..
Note that this weekend, as part of the 'Big Walk-in Weekend' the COVID-19 vaccination clinic at Darnall will be open even longer:
Fri 25 June: 6.30pm - 9.30pm
Sat 26 & Sun 27: 8am - 8pm
Mon 28: 6.30pm - 9.00pm
We are working with the relevant PCNs to ensure that we effectively target their patients, and are currently scoping sites for additional pop-up clinics in those areas.

Registering service development interests and expertise
As GP practices you came together to create PCS to do the things that you can't do alone. It's your organisation.
Our experience has shown that to deliver things the way you need them delivered we need to involve clinicians, managers and practice teams from the outset when services are being created.
Rather than wait until we have any specific project in the first stages of development, we would like to be pro-active and build up a register of those with an interest in future project development. So, if you have a specific area you are interested in then let us know so that we can contact you if input is needed in that area.

Bowel Cancer Screening test kit and a COVID-19 self testing kit Confusion
The Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) automatically sends Faecal Immunochemical Test kits (FIT) to people aged 60 – 74 years every 2 years, by post.
Some patients are receiving their BCSP kit around the same time as a Covid-19 self-test kit. As a result the BCSP helpline is experiencing an increase in helpline calls from confused and worried patients, who do not understand which test is which.

PCS 'drop-in' sessions
The PCS team is always keen to hear about anything you would like to raise with us in the way of feedback or any ideas you may have on how we might shape things going forwards.
Dr Andy Hilton and Nicki Doherty keep a lunch time 'drop in' slot available in their diary on Wednesday (Andy) and Friday (Nicki). If you would like to catch-up with them in one of those, please simply click the button below, and we will get back to you to arrange that.
Please note that these 'drop-in' sessions are in addition to the 1:1 meetings we have been arranging with practices.
