Learn More About Our Vendors
As you may have heard (and we shared the news on social media a while back), Chef Sydney Meers of Cowboy Syd's Products is getting back into the restaurant business with his upcoming new spot downtown. It's currently under construction, which requires much oversight from Sydney on weekdays. We know Sydney will be at the market this week, but we know his days with us are numbered, as he gets closer to opening the restaurant. So come stock up on all your Cowboy Syd favorites. After this, we're playing it by ear, week by week, and he will stay with us as far into our market season as he can. He says he WILL also be at our September 15 Harvest Market at O'Connor Brewing Co., so that's another chance to catch up with him. And we all can't wait to try Syd's Fish Pig Cafe when it opens!
RECIPE OF THE WEEK - Sheet Pan Brown Sugar Pork Chops with Butternut Squash
Sheet pan suppers are a great solution for busy weeknight schedules. Fast to fix and easy to clean up! This one features budget-friendly pork chops, which you can pick up from Full Quiver Farm. Bone-in chops will actually provide more flavor when roasted; just make sure an instant-read thermometer reaches 140 degrees for the internal temperature. Butternut squash and apples just came back in season and are available from our produce vendors. Recipe and photo from Seasonal Cravings.
For those of you unable to make it to our Wednesday market, have you heard that we have partnered with O'Connor Brewing started a second market in Norfolk? Harvest Market at O'Connor Brewing Co. is held every 1st & 3rd Sunday through October 6, from noon to 4 pm. You can just pop in to shop at the market, or stay for an afternoon of great beer, good times with friends and to support all things LOCAL! This new market has its own Facebook page, so "Like" it to keep up with all the news. Many of the vendors are at both markets, and there are some who are unique to just one of them. Either way, we have a great selection!
Markets are rain or shine. Brief thunderstorms early in the market day may force us to put sales on hold temporarily. In the event of widespread thunderstorms or storms in the final hour of the market, we may be forced to close for the day. If we are forced to close either temporarily or for the day, we will post a notice on the home page of our website.
