This is a recipe shared last week, but the market had to close up early due to lightning. Pick up your dough and toppings at the market today! 
RECIPE OF THE WEEK - Summer Vegetable Pizza - Courtesy of Bodacious Bakehouse
 
This easy-to-make Summer Vegetable Pizza showcases the abundance and variety of summer produce and products at our Farmers Market!
 
Ingredients
* 1 Bodacious Bakehouse Frozen Pizza Dough (thawed overnight in fridge)
* 3 garlic cloves, minced 
* 1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil 
* 1 medium Italian eggplant (about 8 oz), sliced into 1/4" thick rounds
* 1 medium zucchini squash, sliced into 1/4" thick rounds 
* 1 medium tomato, sliced into 1/4" thick rounds 
* 2 links Italian sausage (chicken or pork), removed from casing
* 5 thick slices of provolone cheese or fresh mozzarella cheese *See notes
* kosher salt and fresh ground black pepper, to season 
* cornmeal, as needed 
 
Instructions
1. Remove dough from fridge and let it sit on counter for at least 30 mins prior to stretching.
2. Preheat oven to 500 degrees F. 
3. In a small bowl, mix together minced garlic and olive oil.
4. Once oven is hot, lightly brush eggplant rounds and zucchini rounds with garlic olive oil. Place rounds on sheet trays. Roast for about 3-5 minutes, only turning once. *Alternatively, cook on gas grill.
5. In a medium skillet, heat a little of a garlic olive oil. Once warm, add pork or chicken sausage. Break up sausage with wooden spoon as it cooks. Cook for 6-8 minutes until sausage is done. Set aside.
6. Sprinkle counter with cornmeal or flour and stretch or roll pizza dough to a rectangle about 10x13 inches. Place stretched dough in a baking sheet lightly coated with olive oil.
7. Brush the pizza dough with remaining garlic olive oil. Cover pizza with provolone cheese slices*. (If desired, use fresh mozzarella cheese, tearing off pieces to evenly distribute.) Follow with sliced tomatoes, eggplant, zucchini, and cooked sausage. Season with salt and pepper.
8. Slide pizza into hot oven. Bake for 8-10 minutes until crust is golden brown and cheese has melted and is bubbling.
 
Notes:
* Grill your zucchini and eggplant on your gas grill instead of roasting. Prepare gas grill for medium heat cooking. Grill until slightly browned on both sides and tender.
* Can use fresh mozzarella cheese instead of provolone. Brush crust with garlic oil and place veggies on top then tear pieces for fresh mozzarella and distribute evenly
* Use fresh pizza or marinara sauce instead of garlic oil on your crust. Top as directed.

For those of you unable to make it to our Wednesday market, have you heard that we have partnered with O'Connor Brewing started a second market in Norfolk? Harvest Market at O'Connor Brewing Co. will be held every 1st & 3rd Sunday through October 6, from noon to 4 pm. You can just pop in to shop at the market, or stay for an afternoon of great beer, good times with friends and to support all things LOCAL! This new market has its own Facebook page, so "Like" it to keep up with all the news. Many of the vendors are at both markets, and there are some who are unique to just one of them. Either way, we have a great selection!
INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY
Markets are rain or shine. Brief thunderstorms early in the market day may force us to put sales on hold temporarily. In the event of widespread thunderstorms or storms in the final hour of the market, we may be forced to close for the day. If we are forced to close either temporarily or for the day, we will post a notice on the home page of our website.

The parking lot cannot accommodate all who attend. There is plenty of overflow parking on the side streets behind the church. Parking on the side streets across Hampton Blvd is also an option if you don't have little ones with you. Please be courteous to residents and take care not to block driveways.
