Tomato Pies are a southern summertime tradition. They can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Starting this week, you can get them at the market from The Rustic Tart. It's too late to preorder for this week, but in future weeks if you want to be assured of getting one, you can have one set aside for you! To preorder, please call their downtown pie shop at 757-333-3867 during their business hours of 11:30-7, Wednesday through Saturday. You can also send an email to All orders must be submitted by Sunday for pickup at the coming Wednesday market. Pick up a tomato pie and some fresh salad mix from one of our produce vendors, and Wednesday dinner is done! Cowboy Syd's Products makes a lovely mustard vinaigrette that would top your salad nicely.
The Flower Lady tells us she will have her first blooms of the season at the market this week. These are fresh-from-the-farm flowers, grown without pesticides, herbicides or synthetic fertilizers. Treat yourself or surprise someone special. Please note that The Flower Lady attends bi-weekly.
