Pathfinder District Commissioner Service Needs Your Help!

Pathfinder District is in need of additional adult volunteers to serve as Unit Commissioners!
Unit Commissioners maintain contact with their assigned Units to provide resources, encouragement and help to their Units. Commissioners enter information into an online system called Commissioner Tools to ensure that the District is aware of any Units that need extra help to succeed.
Many hands make light work! Even if you can only serve one or two Units, we would truly appreciate your help. Commissioners meet on the second Thursday of each month at 6:00 pm, immediately before Roundtable to allow Commissioners an additional opportunity to connect with their Units.
If you are interested in learning more about commissioner service, please contact the Pathfinder District Commissioner, Marshelle Dawkins Broadwell.  You may also read about commissioner service at

Do you know of any ladies 11-17 years old who might want to attend, or who should join Scouts BSA? More importantly, do your SCOUTS know any ladies like that? Be sure to send this information to them ASAP!

We're also in search of current Venturing Crew ladies (sorry guys) that are able to help volunteer to meet and greet, and help with belaying for the event. Pizza will be provided. Join us for the CAC Interfaith Interactions Seminar!

Sunday, February 23, 2020 – 2:00-4:00pm
Unitarian Universalist Church
615 W. 43rd Street, Indianapolis, IN 46208

This event is for Scouts in Leadership, Adult Leaders & Community Guests (free event, bring a friend)!

- Those interested in other Faith traditions to reach out to neighbors, friends, or their community!

Scouts & Leaders of all faith backgrounds should plan to attend.

This educational opportunity will enlighten youth and adult leaders regarding the various faith traditions of the Scouts in our Council with whom you will interact either within your own Unit (Pack/Troop/Crew/Team), and/or at various Public, District and Council Events. All Pack, Troop, Crew and Team Leadership are welcome. And you are encouraged to invite those in your community who seek to better understand a faith person in their neighborhood.

Speakers may include experts on the following faith traditions: Buddhist; Islam; Judaism; Roman Catholic; Sikh; Hindu; Baha’i; Protestant; or the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. They will provide information on their faith history and beliefs, as well as, answer questions that may address how best to interact respectfully with those within that faith.

A Scout is Reverent, that is, he respects other faith traditions than his own. This one afternoon of interaction is the best way to "Be Prepared" to interact with those of a faith with whom you may not be familiar.

There is no cost to attend and no registration required; this event is hosted by the Crossroads of America BSA Chaplain Corps! For more information, contact Kimdra Montgomery at

Sunday, February 2, 2020, 2:00pm

St. Lawrence Catholic School Cafeteria
6950 East 46th Street, Indianapolis, IN 46226

The Crossroads of America Scout Band will have its annual Open House at 2:00pm on Sunday, February 2, 2020 at St. Lawrence Catholic School in the Cafeteria.
If you play a band instrument (woodwind, brass, and percussion) we invite you to join us and be a part of the fun we have planned for 2020! Scouts, Scouters and Scout parents are all welcome to attend! Your musical ability can be anywhere from beginner to "pro" — we have them all in the band. If you are new to your instrument, this is a great place to strengthen your musical ability and work in some practice time for the week!
Any Scouts BSA-aged youth (11-18 years old); Venturing, Sea Scouts or Exploring member (14-21 years old); or Scouter (adult leader) are eligible to be a member of the band. Siblings and parents who also play an instrument but are not registered in Scouting may also join the band’s Venturing Crew 559 and enjoy the extra opportunity to share their musical talents.
Join us as we celebrate our 103rd YEAR OF CONTINUOUS OPERATION in Central Indiana! All YOU have to do to be a part of this great organization is show up Sunday, February 2!
If you can’t join us on the 2nd, be sure and visit any Sunday at the same time and location (except Sunday, February 16th when we will be performing our annual Scouting Anniversary concert). Dress is casual — but don’t forget your instrument.
If you have any questions, call Patty Smith at 317-509-5482 or check out our website at

Make plans now to join us for a day of service at the 2020 IPL 500 Festival Parade!

Saturday, May 23rd, 8am – 3:30pm

Crossroads of America Council and its Scouting Units have volunteered their services to the Indy 500 Festival Parade ever since its inception in 1957, and 2020 - the 63rd anniversary of the parade - will be no different! In 2019, over 600 Scouts and Scouters from the Council participated in the event, and we're hoping for more this year!

Pathfinder District now has a 500 Festival Parade District Coordinator in place – Shea Wynn! If you're able and interested in helping, please contact Shea Wynn at as soon as possible.

Units will be expected to complete the following tasks on parade day:

  • set-up folding chairs in your assigned area;
  • mark seat numbers for those chairs according to the provided seating chart;
  • assist the public with tickets in finding their seats;
  • following the parade, tear down and re-stack the chairs for pick-up after the parade; and
  • designate someone not to leave until your Troop has your patches and our count is turned in.

Each Scout and Scouter will receive a patch from the Indy 500 Festival Committee and the Troop will receive a certificate of appreciation from the CAC Parade Committee. Plus, you get to watch the parade for free!
