The next Youth GAB Session is on April 20th from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM. This GAB session will help you practice English while having fun with friends and playing virtual games!

Gateway's Cultural Complexity Approach Workshop
Gateway's webinar on Wednesday April 21st at 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM will be facilitated by Michele Manocchi, a highly acclaimed specialist with a Ph.D. in Comparative Social Research. The webinar offers the opportunity to reflect on one's own cultural complexity and become more knowledgeable about unconscious bias, privileges, power dynamics, and systemic discrimination and their consequences. Identifying ways to overcome potential challenges while communicating in culturally complex situations will be also be shared.

Centre for Employment & Learning Offers New ESL Classes!
 
The Centre for Employment and Learning now offers two new online classes! One in the afternoon (Monday-Thursday) for CLB 0-3 (lower level learners) and a Citizenship preparation class to help newcomers study for the Citizenship test on Monday evenings. To join the Citizenship classes students must be CLB 4 or higher.

Vaccine Rollout Session-FAQ Available
Our first Virtual Newcomer Advisory Event took place on March 29th.The Vaccine Rollout Informational Session was hosted by Huron Perth Public Health, and discussed what vaccines are available in Huron and Perth, as well as explaining how to register and book a vaccine appointment. There is a vaccine info FAQ that is available upon request.

Victim Support Resource List

Huron County Immigration Partnership's Victim Support Relief Resource list is available online! The extensive victim support list offers support for groups of people who are marginalized. There is information on free counselling, legal aid, helplines, toolkits, advocacy centers, and other digital mental health support services.

911 Foreign Workers Fact Sheets
Visit the Newcomer Settlement webpage to access 9-1-1 health resources. One fact sheet identifies what one needs prior to calling 911 for emergency healthcare, while the other explains what to expect when calling. The factsheets are translated pages also available in: French, Spanish, Thai, Tagalog, Arabic, and Vietnamese.

Experiences of Discrimination Survey Update

Forum Research Inc. administered a survey to measure and better understand the experiences and effects of discrimination at the local level. The survey was developed by researchers at Western University and was administered in many regions across Southwestern Ontario. Now wrapped up,
