UNC Won the Student Commute Challenge!

The Student Commute Challenge was a friendly competition between UNC, Duke, NC State and Wake Tech to see whose students could track the most trips by bus, carpool, biking or walking. UNC was crowned the winner with nearly 2,000 miles logged in just one month!

Transit

Employees can earn GoPerks

Vanpool

Let Someone Else Do the Driving

Check out these UNC vanpools to see if one matches your commute. Vanpool riders get to sleep, read, or just sit back and relax during their commute. Compare that to driving alone every day. Try it once, and you’ll never want to leave!

Carpool

Free Ride-Matching

At UNC, you have two options to find carpools. Sign up at UNC.ShareTheRideNC.org or log in with your Onyen at Zimride.UNC.edu. Both websites are free and secure with your personal information. You have the option to only match to UNC affiliates or to match with others, but we always recommend meeting first in a public space (like a coffee shop) before starting the carpool. This also gives you a chance to get to know one another and decide if you want to carpool together. There are no obligations, but think of all the money you’ll save if it works out!

Bike

2015 Triangle Bicycle & Pedestrian Workshop

Register online for the fifth annual Triangle Bicycle & Pedestrian Workshop, to be held on Friday, February 27, from 8 am to noon, at the Durham County Human Services Building, 414 E Main Street, Durham.

Learn and discuss bicycle and pedestrian topics, such as:

• Local and Regional Initiatives

• NCDOT & Legislative Updates

• Improving Bicycle and Pedestrian Access to Transit

• Funding for Bicycle and Pedestrian Projects

After the workshop, attendees have the option of going to lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a bicycle tour of Durham (weather dependent). If you’re interested, please register for the ride and bring your bike to the event. We will contact you separately with more details about the lunch and the tour.
