Free Vanpool for One Month!

Join a vanpool or start a new vanpool in February – March, and your first month is free! Any new rider may receive up to $100 towards the fare of a vanpool, leased by PART or GoTriangle. UNC employees and students are eligible, even if you have a parking permit. Simply fill out this form to get started!

Congratulations to UNC for being selected as one of the Best Workplaces for Commuters in the 2015 Race to Excellence!

Sustainability Workshops

The UNC Sustainability Office will be putting on “Making the Workplace More Sustainable” Workshops on February 23 and 25 from 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Learn about sustainability goals and initiatives at UNC, become “green events” certified, and find out about sustainable transportation options. Register soon through Connect Carolina for “Workplace Sustainability.” Space is limited.

Sign Up For EcoReps Spring Training

EcoReps are Carolina’s trained peer-to-peer sustainability outreach team. Learn about campus sustainability initiatives that advance ecological integrity, economic prosperity, and societal well-being. Then, learn the skills needed to effectively engage other students. The spring semester training will occur Sunday, January 31, and counts as a Public Service Scholars Skills Training. Location and time TBD. Email ecoreps.uncch@gmail.com to register and learn more.

North South Corridor Study

The North-South Corridor study is developing and evaluating Bus Rapid Transit alternatives along the Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard/Columbia Street/US 15-501 South corridor from the Eubanks Road Park & Ride lot to the Southern Village Park & Ride lot. Click to view a visualization video or to view a 2016 project fact sheet. Come give your feedback about this study to Chapel Hill Transit during the following times:

• January 20 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at UNC Children’s Hospital Lobby

• January 20 from 4-6 p.m. at the Lobby, 410 Market Street, Southern Village

• January 21 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at UNC Carolina Union West Lounge

MLK Holiday Transit Schedules

There will be limited transit service on Martin Luther King Day. The schedules are as follows:

GoTriangle: 100, 400, 700, and 800 will use their Saturday/Sunday/Holiday Schedule

The other routes 102, 105, 201, 300, 301, 305, 405, 420, 805, the RTP Shuttles, and all Express routes (including the RSX) have no service

Chapel Hill Transit: Operating on Saturday Schedules with no U or NU routes

PART: All routes operating normally

Raleigh Bike Plan Update

During the spring and summer, the BikeRaleigh Plan Update project team heard from a diverse group of Raleighites. This Plan Update responds by proposing a network of protected bikeways on major streets and low-stress neighborhood bikeways on local streets. Comments on the draft plan can be submitted until January 31, 2016. The Plan is available on the project website: http://bikeraleigh.org/home/index.php/projects/bike-raleigh-plan

Zipcar

New Year’s Resolution: Zip More

Make 2016 the year you unlock a little more freedom. Zipcar is a member-based car-sharing service on campus that allows 18+ students to use cars by the hour or the day – gas and insurance included. So, leave the car at home this semester and save on parking. Zipcar is your new best friend.
