New Bus Stops on the Free Alamance Burlington Express

PART’s Alamance Burlington Express is adding new bus stops next week! PART will provide direct service to AOB, Giles Horney, and nearby offices by stopping on MLK Blvd. at Airport Road and at the YMCA across the street. The bus will also stop at the SECU on Pittsboro Street and at Carrington Hall on S. Columbia Street.

UNC employees and students commuting from the Piedmont area are eligible to ride FREE on PART Route 4 with the UNC GoPass! To obtain a GoPass, eligible commuters may register for the Commuter Alternative Program (CAP). If you currently have a parking pass and want to try the bus, fill out this form to request free day passes.

Lighten Up!

The days are getting shorter, but that doesn’t mean you should stop biking! Through GoTriangle’s Lighten Up campaign, make sure that you are visible and safe with proper lights for your bicycle. Follow this link for a coupon for 10% off lights at your local bike shop, or stop by the Public Safety building for a set of free lights!

New WiFi on GoTriangle

The GoTriangle tech team is currently deploying a brand new WiFi system on their entire fleet! About half of the buses are already equipped with the new routers and have had great results. Report back on your experience with GoTriangle WiFi by taking this survey and let them know how the new WiFi is performing for you.

Carpool

Post a Commute

With the new semester kicking off, now is a good time to post a new commute or update your existing commute on Zimride, UNC’s private ridesharing software that provides students, faculty and staff an easy to way to share rides. Carpooling saves money, decreases stress and helps reduce your carbon footprint. Zimride connects you with others headed the same way for enjoyable, sustainable travel.

In seconds you can set up a profile, search for open seats, or post a commute of your own. Get to know more of the friendly faces around you and help us build the Zimride community at UNC!

Bike

Friday Night Lights

On Friday, October 23, the Carrboro Bicycle Coalition will once again hold their popular Friday Night Lights. Come at 5.30 p.m. to Carrboro Town Hall with all your lights on – if you don’t have lights, bring your bike and they’ll put one on for you. Then, hit the streets and light them up on a short cruiser ride. What great fun to have a mass of lighted cyclists coming down Franklin St. on a Friday night!

BACH Monthly Meeting

The next Bicycle Alliance of Chapel Hill meeting is this Thursday, October 22 (and every 4th Thursday) at 6:30 p.m. at Fitzgerald’s Irish Pub, 206 W Franklin St. Stop by to meet some BACH board members, and share your ideas. This meeting will be focused on how to promote the Chapel Hill Bond that is on the ballot.

Do You Fuel Change?

If you’re driving positive change, you’re in the right place. Zipcar’s Students with Drive program (powered by Ford) is giving away thousands of dollars in Zipcar driving credit to help student groups like yours get things done. Whether you’re part of the mariachi band, club volleyball, or student government, we want to hear your story.
