Chapel Hill Transit Summer Break
Chapel Hill Transit will operate on a summer break schedule from Saturday, May 9 through Friday, August 14. During this time, the weekday NU route will end at 8:29 p.m. and the Safe Rides and Saturday/Sunday U and NU routes will not operate. The last day for the Saturday/Sunday U and NU routes will be May 3 and the last day for Safe Rides will be April 25. Regular service will resume on Saturday, August 15.
Triangle Transit is now GoTriangle
Triangle Transit is changing their name, along with Capital Area Transit (CAT) and Durham Area Transit Authority (DATA). Triangle Transit is now GoTriangle, CAT is GoRaleigh, and DATA is GoDurham. So, be on the lookout for new bus designs!
Get permission to Park & Ride
Some people use official Park & Ride lots owned by UNC or the Town to park, while others have found their own parking near bus stops. If you choose the latter, please remember to get permission to park. A concerned CAP member recently mentioned that cars are being towed from the Village Plaza Shopping Center.
Try a vanpool for free!
Are you interested in riding a vanpool but not sure you want to commit to a full month? Simply contact the driver and ask to ride for a day. Check out these UNC vanpools to see if one matches your commute. Vanpool riders get to sleep, read, or just sit back and relax during their commute. It’s so much better than driving alone.
Driving home after finals?
You can easily find classmates heading the same way! Share the ride and split the cost! Zimride.UNC.edu.
At UNC, you have two options to find carpools. Sign up at UNC.ShareTheRideNC.org or log in with your Onyen at Zimride.UNC.edu. Both websites are free and secure with your personal information. You have the option to only match to UNC affiliates or to match with others, but we always recommend meeting first in a public space (like a coffee shop) before starting the carpool. This also gives you a chance to get to know one another and decide if you want to carpool together. There are no obligations, but think of all the money you’ll save if it works out!

Get your club behind the wheel
With summer right around the corner, what better way to close out the year than having one last adventure with your roommates? Throughout April, Zipcar is giving students the chance to hit the open road – all expenses paid – with the Go.Away. competition.
Entering is easy; simply reserve and drive any one of the Ford Zipcars on or near campus and you’re automatically qualified. In May, Zipcar will choose five lucky students to win the big prize: two free days in a Zipcar, two free nights in a hotel, spending money, and a 1-year Spotify Premium membership. The more you drive, the more likely you are to win, so make your reservation today. Enter before May 1.
