From Urth Yarns ~ our Baba Noel Stocking kits are in the shop! This stocking "... looks at Christmas from an Anadolu aesthetic's point of view, representing St. Nicholas' birthplace of Myra with Anatolian motifs." Whatever does that mean, you may well ask (and so did I). My research on that reveals that (according to Wikipedia) 'Anadolu' is the Turkish word for 'Anatolia'. Now this begins to make sense, being as how Urth Yarns come to us from Turkey. Then I did a google search for 'Anatolian motifs' ... turns out these are pretty synonymous with 'Kilim motifs'. Now we're talking, as Kilim rugs are usually my favorites. Nice, crisp geometric designs.

This kit includes the pattern, one skein of Urth Christmas Worsted, one skein of Urth Harvest Ecru Worsted, and the pattern. It is approximately 22" long, 14" in circumference. You'll also need a US#7/4.5mm circular needle, or DPNs, a tapestry needle, and 4 stitch markers, which will need to be purchased separately. $59.95, we have 6 remaining. We are happy to ship ($10 more), just give us a call!

(I started a shop model yesterday ... the stitch definition of this yarn is 'practically perfect'! And FYI, yes, I'm Magic Looping, but I'm still on the foot; may switch to shorties for the colorwork.)

Kim Dyes Yarn's November selections are available for preorder, they should be in the shop the end of the month (give or take a few ... the holidays are upon us, folks)!

Per Kim, "November's colorways are full of heart! The variegated is called Heart Corners, and is a blend of warm inviting colors. First Frost is a silver with streaks of the warm purple from Heart Corners. As usual, the colors play well together but will be beautiful individually too."

What's going on here in Kingston Springs?

Tonight is our monthly YaYa Fiber MeetUp at SkyKing Pizza (just down the block from E&CO). Amy has saved us a big table in the side room, 5-ish until we're done. Bring a project, bring a friend, or just come ~ we seem to always have a great time! We do this every third Thursday of the month ... if you can't come this month, plan on next month. I'm thinking since it falls the week before Christmas, we should do a Dirty Santa Stash Swap ... more about that later!

Also, the shop will be open today until 5 for your pre-YaYa shopping convenience!

Another "Save The Date" event here in our little town ... A Kingston Springs Christmas! This is a fun outdoor event (bundle up in all your sweaters & socks!) at Burns Park on Sunday, December 11 from 5-8 pm.
