Everybody loving this cooler weather? Time to bring out the woolies!
Here are the little pretties we have in from Wonderland Yarns' "Four Witches" Halloween Collection! 4 limited edition colorways in Mary Ann (fingering weight sock, 80/20 SW Merino/Nylon, 475 yard skeins, $30 per skein), as well as their limited edition gradient "Blossoms" (475 yards, 85/15 SW Merino/Nylon, $38 per cake). And no, candy corn is not included ... but we do have candy!
Hocus Pocus 2 from Forbidden Fiber Co. ~ we have a good stock of these beauties! One of my favorite things about these colorways (as well as most of FFC's collections) is that they are not 'holiday specific', work for pretty much any season, and play well with others. From left to right: We're Back, Sisters, Book of Spells, Magic Shoppe, I Smell Children, & Life Potion. (We have these in Fortitude Fingering (475 yards) AND Fortitude DK (231 yards; both are 100% SW Merino, $30 per skein).

We also have a couple of sets of FFC's 'All Hallows Eve' minis left (also on their Fortitude base, 87 yards per mini, 696 yards total). These are babies are $56/set.
What exactly is 'amigurumi'? Historically, it is the Japanese art of making "small, stuffed yarn creatures", "usually with oversized heads". The most definitive explanation I could find is here.

My interest in these little thingies started back in 2010. As you may well remember, we experienced what I hope is the flood of our lifetime. In 2011 to commemorate that event, we all got together and knitted Alan Dart's "Noah's Ark" (also check out his other 'claymation' patterns, they are delightful) and donated it to our local community outreach, "The Ark", for their silent auction fundraising event. We knit, we stuffed, we sewed (and OK, maybe we cursed a bit) ... and it was an artistic wonder that we donated to that fundraiser. (Frankly, I was soooo burned out from that endeavor that it has been hard for me to take those little things seriously ever since.)

That being said, raise your hand if you've been sucked into the 'gknitting gnomes' (this year's most popular subset of amigurumi)! These little people are just stinking cute!

We have a lot of minis in the shop from Dream in Color that work great for these little projects (if you're going to make 'em, why not make with the best?) ... $8 (Smooshy) and $10 (Smooshy with Cashmere). I just downloaded this sweet little pattern, "ADVENTure Gnome" from Sarah Schira and can't wait to get this one going, soon as I get a few projects off the needles! Plus, there are a lot of extras with this pattern ~ including a couple of delicious recipes.
Alrighty ~ this brings us to food. We've partnered with SkyKing Pizza to reinstate our YaYa 'Fiber Night'! This will happen the third Thursday of each month, beginning 5-ish. Bring your project, bring a friend, just come. We did this a couple of weeks ago for the WestKnits 2022 MKAL and frankly, I think I was the only one even trying to knit - mostly hanging & grazing & YaYa-ing! So ... tonight from 5 until 9, please drop in or stay the whole time, we'd love to see you! (and no, this is not project specific ~ this's a YaYa Night!)
Classes? Here is a link to our current classes, we'll update as we schedule them. This Saturday we kick off 'Learn to Cable' and 'Beginning Socks'! Class list is HERE!
I'd like to thank all of you for a great week in the shop, keep it coming!

Your's in yarn,
Glenna
