Introducing Autohub

Spinning up a hub just got easier. Autohub is a script that streamlines the setup of a HUBzero development instance, changing a complex process into a few quick and easy steps.

After running the script, you will be running a fully functional hub that offers the standard CMS features and virtualized Workspaces and, optionally, Solr search. This hub will allow you to safely experiment with a wide range of features and develop custom code. Autohub also lays the groundwork for remote PHP debugging, making it much easier to troubleshoot problems and fix software bugs.

The hub instance that Autohub provides runs in a virtual machine (VM) on your computer and requires some free software to get started (VirtualBox and Vagrant). This effort was lead by Jeff Kayser, a HUBzero Software Architect. See the Autohub README for more information.

End of Life for Debian Linux Distribution

HUBzero support for the Debian Linux distribution is no longer available, effective August 27, 2020.

You may continue to use Debian for a hub installation; however, support for HUBzero operating system packages and other related software will no longer receive updates. Maintenance and support for installed software, including security updates, are the individual hub system administrators' responsibility.

HUBzero will continue to offer its suite of open-source software on the CentOS Linux distribution, allowing us to focus our efforts on maintaining and improving our code-base and bringing you additional features upgrades such as Docker, which replaces OpenVZ for hub tool session containers.
