There is no age requirement to volunteer at The Haven! Anyone can make a huge impact. These young ladies, pictured above, raised over $240 by selling lemonade at the Tappahannock Farmers Market. The Haven is also thankful for the volunteers who helped out at the Heathsville Farmers Market and folks who donated baked goods to be sold. Over $400 were raised at the Tappahannock and Heathsville Farmers Market.
The Haven has received a huge donation of school supplies that we would like to use to support teachers in the Northern Neck and Essex County for the upcoming school year. We are in need of a few volunteers on Friday, June 4th between the hours of 10am-1pm to help sort and organize school supplies. If you are available, please contact Brittany Clayborne at

Be sure to check the show notes for written description of how to do the fun dino puppet craft and dino roar mindful moment! And... welcome to Hearts and Crafts with The Haven--DINO EDITION!

Call Senators Kaine and Warner and ask them to cosponsor S.611, the bipartisan/bicameral VOCAFix to sustain the Crime Victims Fund Act. Unfortunately, this bill S.611, has been sitting in the senate gathering dust. This week, programs across the state of Virginia received their award announcements from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services.

Like The Haven, most of Virginia's SA/DV programs depend on VOCA funding for a major portion of their program budget. Twelve programs like ours in Virginia are facing "catastrophic" cuts in funding this year meaning that more than 30% of their total current funding has been cut. While we fared much better, we also lost some of the funding we had last year. Unless the VOCAfix legislation is passed, The Haven and more programs like ours across the United States will be facing catastrophic cuts over the next couple of years leaving survivors of intimate partner and sexual violence even more vulnerable than they are now following COVID.

Please contact Senators Warner and Kaine and ask them to Co-Sponsor S. 611 and get it passed. It is too late already for some Virginia programs that are going to have to cut services as of July 1. We cannot afford for this bill to sit there any longer. This is truly a bipartisan bill in a time when there aren't many bipartisan issues.

Senator Kaine 202-224-4024
Senator Warner 202-224-2023
Please contact your senators!! This should be bipartisan politics at it's best!
