Mt Aso, in all its glory. The UNESCO listed Geopark in Kumamoto Prefecture contains the five peaks of Mt Aso as well as the 120km round caldera. Mt Aso itself is the largest active volcano in Japan and one of the largest in the world. On our Aso Walking Tour, not only do we climb up to the Mt Nakadake crater but we also enjoy bathing in the many natural hot spring baths found in this region and hear the stories of the locals who live in the shadow of the volcano.

In collaboration with the Shimane Prefectural Government and to mark the launch of our new tour, Izumo, Iwami Ginzan & Gonokawa Trail, we will be holding a FAM trip for both agents and media to showcase highlights of the tour! If you are interested, please don't hesitate to email us at info@heartlandjapan.com.

ATTA AdventureConnect Event Nagano
We had a wonderful time at the ATTA's AdventureConnect event in Nagano at the end of last month. Not only were we able to meet the CEO, Shannon (pictured with Heartland JAPAN's CEO, Keiji), but we were also able to hear about how the adventure travel market size is growing year on year, and with it, the positive impact of adventure tourism over mass tourism on local economies.

Aso (Kumamoto) & Tsuwano-Hagi (Shimane, Yamaguchi) FAM Trip - October 2018
We are happy to announce that we have finalised the schedule and attendees for our October FAM Trip to Aso, Tsuwano and Hagi (and many places in between!). We will be taking eight individuals from both travel and media to provide a taste of our tours. Hailing from as close as Hong Kong to as far as South Africa, we are sure it will be an exciting and informative experience for all involved!
