Heartland Japan in the Media

Heartland Japan has been mentioned in a Tokyo Business Today article. The article very insightfully explores the question of how long Japan's tourism boom will last, what can be done to ease the burden of the tourist influx in the major cities, and how to make the boom more sustainable throughout the country. Have you heard of Kagura? It is thought that the originally Shinto dance is older than Noh and with a history spanning over a millennium, has many varieties and is particularly associated with the traditional agricultural calendar. A performance typically includes a vibrant theatrical reenactment of a folk story, accompanied by traditional music. It is still a popular form of performance art in southern Japan.  Kagura performances are a key feature of both our Aso Walking Tour and Tsuwano and Hagi-Okan Walk.
