Willow Cottage Nursery Newsletter

Spring 2019
Willow Cottage's Vision: Our nurseries offer parents the highest quality childcare “Second to Mum” and a pre-school education of excellence. Parents can leave their children with confidence, knowing that they are in a happy, safe, and loving environment with everyone working to provide the best possible outcomes for them.
Welcome to our Spring Newsletter for 2019. We have been delighted to welcome so many new families since the start of the academic year and can't believe that we are currently planning the Leavers Party for those getting ready to move to their chosen schools at the end of the summer.

These newsletters are sent to all our current parents as a way of keeping you up to date with any non-setting specific news and developments.

Neil and Val Grady our Founding Directors

We have enjoyed a lovely build up to this Easter time at Willow Cottage with the children making Easter gardens, Easter biscuits and Hot Cross buns (low sugar ones of course!).

They have enjoyed Easter tea parties and egg hunts and egg challenges.

We wish you all a very happy and peaceful Easter weekend.

Ruth Salway is our Head Teacher and Manager of our Farmoor Setting.  One of her many roles is to ensure the Quality of Teaching is the best it can be.

To support her in this role she works closely with each of the Setting Managers and their Setting Lead for Quality Teaching to review and plan each departments teaching and learning.

She has written an article for the website and you can find out more if you click the link below.

Forest School at Bletchingdon

There has been an exciting development at Bletchingdon. Sally Owen has recently trained as an official Forest Schools Leader. She has been running sessions for the older children throughout the winter.

Sam our Bletchingdon Manager has recently published an article for our website explaining the concept further. Read more...

Nursery Food Matters - Healthy Eating Menu

In October we started our exciting new Four Week Rolling Menu. It supports the Government's recent Early Years food recommendations and offers new and exciting options for the children with a broader range of meals.

Summer Challenge

It is a ten year tradition that over the Summer, our teams from all three settings are set a different challenge to enhance and add depth to the teaching and learning of their department.

The staff get being busy creating with the children, reflecting on the children’s interests and enhancing the continuous provision within their departments.

Recent winners have been;
2018 - Nursery Department Farmoor
2017 - Kindergarten Eynsham.

You may well get an email in the next few months asking for some support!

Willow Cottage Charities 2018-19

At nursery, we will be talking about what charity means and how we will be raising money for people who need a bit of help. This means that whenever we have a charity event, any money raised will be shared equally between the three charities. If you would like any information about the charities, we have chosen to support please feel free to contact a member of the management team.

Ben Taylor (Team Leader Lower Kindergarten Eynsham) is co-ordinating a team at this years Heyford 5k for our chosen charities. Please do consider supporting them with this fantastic event

We plan to have a number of fund raising days throughout the year, which will vary from setting to setting. Your child’s nursery will contact you in advance of their fund raising events.

Thank you for all your generosity and support for these fantastic charities.

Staffing Update

There have been some of exciting staff promotions, new qualifications gained, new positions created and wonderful new faces at our nursery settings over the past six months.

Dates for your Diary

There are several key dates throughout the Willow Cottage year. The website is the best place to go for the most up-to-date information.

There is a Dates for your Diary tab on the drop down menu where you will find out our closure dates, Leavers Party dates and Nativity dates.

  • Collecting your child’s belongings, feeding back on the day and saying the goodbyes can take a few minutes so please arrive in plenty of time to complete this process by 5.45pm.
  • We welcome birthday cakes to celebrate special days. Please ensure they are unopened and shop bought.
  • As the weather becomes warmer, please ensure your child has suitable outdoor clothing and sun cream.
Many thanks.
