The Executive Committee of ICUDDR is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kevin Mulvey as the new Executive Director.
Dr. Kevin Mulvey is an Applied Sociologist with over 30 years of experience in the prevention and treatment of Substance Use Disorders. He worked at Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration for 22 years, where since 1999 he was a Senior Public Health Advisor. His last position was as the Program Development Lead in the Office of Prevention Innovation within the Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP), with focus on policy, data strategies, performance monitoring and evaluation. He also worked in the SAMHSA President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) Program and has done prevention, treatment and recovery work in Viet Nam, Cambodia, Thailand, China, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Burma, and Ukraine.
As an Applied Sociologist, Dr. Mulvey has held positions with the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), Division of Services Improvement and the Division of Pharmacological Treatments as Sr. Public Health Advisor. He is also a program evaluator having directed several research programs in the field of Substance Abuse Treatment and Prevention.
He also brings with him 35 years of experience as a Senior Lecturer in Liberal Arts at Northeastern University, Boston. He currently teaches distance learning hybrid courses in the Opioid Crisis, Alcoholism: Etiology and Epidemiology, Alcoholism: Treatment and Prevention, Sociology of AIDS, Drugs and Society, Research Methods, Techniques of Data Analysis and Statistics.
Beginning April 24th
, Dr. Mulvey will step into the role of Executive Director prior to Dr. Kim Johnson’s retirement at the end of May. We thank Dr. Johnson for her dedication and immense contributions to ICUDDR and look forward to Dr. Mulvey’s leadership. ICUDDR are excited to continue our mission to facilitate networking among universities to promote high quality education and training, research, outreach and advocacy in the field of addiction prevention, treatment and public health interventions.
