Despite mobile payments excitement, the payment card market continues to grow. Solutions providers are now offering issuers a variety of next-generation payment cards with new capabilities targeting increased security and greater convenience, including biometric cards and dynamic code verification cards. A growing number of digital payments companies (Uber, Paytm, Stripe, Grab, ..) are now issuing or planning to issue payment cards

This session of Digital Commerce Asia Pacific explores the future of payment cards and why, despite predictions that they will be replaced by mobile payments, this has not happened so far.
Tac Watanabe of JCB will discuss the evolution of payment technologies, including both card form factor and non-card form factors, and will explain the key findings from the recent JCB pilot with contactless payment cards with fingerprint biometrics sensor. In their presentations, Thomas Decker of Linxens and Chu Yew Fai of Infineon will explain the business case for biometric contactless payment cards, why these and other innovative next-generation card solutions are set to become the card products of tomorrow, and how they will be manufactured in volume by the payment card industry supply chain.
Over 60% of registered delegates are banks, domestic interbank networks, national payments organisations, payment schemes and regulators from
Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Japan.
