Rapid uptake of EMV contactless payment cards is expanding e-payments by displacing cash for low value transactions - but this success is largely limited to mature card payments markets. Many merchants in Asia would not qualify for a contactless payment terminal even if they could afford to rent one. These are the merchants, or micro merchants, now being targeted by QR code mobile payment providers. Can these merchants be brought on-board the contactless payments ecosystem?

This session of Digital Commerce Asia Pacific explores how to increase adoption of contactless payments in new segments currently dominated by cash.
Mohamad Hafidz of Mastercard and Joel Tay of Soft Space will discuss how innovative and low-cost contactless payment acceptance solutions can bring the speed and convenience of contactless payments to micro merchants and small businesses, opening up new segments and new revenue opportunities - for both domestic debit and international scheme-branded payments cards and mobile NFC phone applications.
Over 70% of registered delegates are banks, domestic interbank networks, national payments organisations, payment schemes and regulators from
Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Japan.
