President's Message
Happy autumn everyone. I hope you are enjoying the cooler days, perfecting for wearing our knitted items!
At the last meeting, I had fun wearing my Maple Leaf Hat (Maple Leaf Beanie on Ravelry). As promised, I posted the photo and pattern source in the Project Gallery on our website. I encourage you all to post items up there before it becomes, “Shirley’s Page,” LOL. (See instructions further down in the newsletter.)

While we are spending so much time at home, it is a great time to explore knitting podcasts. I have been working my way through the 300+ audio podcasts on Knit Picks website, picking up a lot of tips and knitting information.  I also enjoy Arne & Carlos on YouTube. Not only are they funny, but they share their design savvy as well as knitting tips, patterns and fascinating lifestyle, half a world away in Norway.
Another very popular podcast is Fruity Knitting, produced by two Australians who live in Germany. Members of the knitting community have recently banded together to support the couple after learning that Andrew, the husband of Andrea, has been diagnosed with a brain tumor.
Other podcasts that some members have mentioned they enjoy are: The Bearded Purl, Grocery Girls Knit, Cady Jax Knits, and The Meaningful Stitch.
Let me know what you have found (, and we can wrap your finds up into an article and send it back out to you.
Meanwhile, read on to see what else we have coming up for you.

Upcoming Programs
As the year rolls along we are becoming more comfortable in the new format, and I think it shows! JC Briar sure was interesting and informative, I have since bought a pattern with a StitchMap!

Lorilee Beltman is our November speaker and I just love programs on Tips and Tricks, don’t you? We have since learned to save the chat from the meetings, so we can keep track of all the helpful links and websites I’m sure she will share. Be ready to log on at 6:30 for our meeting start at 7PM.

December will bring us all together in our traditional (sort of, lol) way. You should have gotten an email about all the fun planned and a little homework for the meeting. Don’t get on the naughty list and join in the fun-I’ve heard there may be a few presents under the tree!

One more reminder that January is a home run with Suzanne Bryan! Wow! So much to look forward to...

Knittingly yours,

Caron and Teri, Program Co-chairs

Big Hearts gives BIG Thanks

Below is a message on Facebook from Big Hearts of Fox Valley. Our charity knitting efforts touched the lives of our local children. We collected over 90 Hats and Scarves for this wonderful organization. A huge thank you from me, for supporting me and this charity! Thank you ladies…Teri.

Thank you Fox Valley Knitters Guild for thinking of a way to help children in our community. These wonderful ladies have been working hard for months so that they could provide the cutest warm winter hats and scarves for many of our D303 children in need this winter. We appreciate you all!!!!
