Vol. 7. Issue 32

We were very excited to welcome Pre-Kindergarten 1 - Grade 5 students back to school this week. It was so nice to see all their smiling faces and to see some activity around the building again. NAISR teachers continued to deliver our Virtual School Experience, in addition to teaching children in the classroom, so that the students who aren't able to come to school could still access the curriculum. Well done to our teachers for juggling it all and for doing such a great job!

Thank you to all students who sent in an appreciation video to our teachers last week. This helped us to give our teachers the recognition they deserve.

We are now preparing for the potential return of our secondary students from Tuesday 2 June. While the final decision on whether secondary can return will be announced on 20 May, cabinet has now released a provisional protocol based on now known guidelines. These can be viewed here. This gives us a good starting point to plan for a potential return to school. It means that over the next two weeks we will be able to update you on items such as schedules, lesson structures, final assessments and graduations etc. An email to secondary parents with some additional information will follow later today.

Be sure to look over the calendar below to know when your child should attend school over the next two weeks. Please be aware that Thursday, 28 May will now be a full day of school/distance learning, rather than an early dismissal for staff professional development as originally planned.

All the best from our family to yours.

Lean on Me
Check out this wonderful virtual musical performance of 'Lean on Me'. This is our way of showing support and encouragement to everyone in our NAISR community during these difficult times of social distancing. We are all missing our social contacts, and this was yet another way that our community could come together through music to make these challenging times a bit more fun. Thank you to Mr. Fitzpatrick for putting this video together, and also to the staff and secondary students who participated. Enjoy and share it around!    Watch video >>>
Virtual Kilimanjaro Climb
Well done to the students and staff who are currently taking part in the Virtual Kilimanjaro Climb challenge this month. We are enjoying the photos of your progress on the Global Campus progress wall, so keep them coming and keep on climbing!
Borrowed Devices
If your child has borrowed a device from the NAISR IT department, we ask that your child bring it to school on the days of their in-school learning.
Birthday Treats
Due to the restrictions on the handling of food and gifts, cupcakes or any other food or gifts brought in from home may not be shared with students in class at this time.

School Library
Unfortunately, the school library will remain closed until the next academic year. The school is following a new schedule with the recent reopening of NAISR only for the elementary school under COVID-19 circumstances. Under the new schedule, it is not possible to include the Library service. We would greatly appreciate the return of all Library books. Library bags should also be returned, as they will be kept at the library over the Summer break and then reissued in the new school year (Grade 5 students and students departing from NAISR may keep their bag). Thank you to all parents who have already ensured that their child has returned library books this week.
Lunch Options for May 2020
