Vol. 8. Issue 2
Dear Parents,

Now that we are a few weeks into the new school year, routines and learning expectations have been established between the teachers and students. We are ambitious for all our students and so teachers personalise and differentiate teaching and learning, providing the right amount of challenge and support to enable every child to make great progress in their learning. In addition to core lessons, we aim to provide students with enrichment opportunities to develop leadership, collaboration and team spirit, creativity and fun. Due to Covid restrictions, we have decided not to offer an after-school programme for Semester 1. In these challenging times we need to adapt and find new ways to expose students to new experiences so please be assured that we are adapting the regular schedules for the semester to ensure we provide a rich offer of activities within the school week.

Our STUCO (student council) groups are being formed for the new school year and plans are underway for an active year of socially minded activities, with an environmental focus. The STUCO leaders will be sharing their plans in the coming weeks and we are excited to see what impact these impressive young leaders will have on our school community and beyond. From October, we will be running a regular series of intermural events – kickstarted with a rotation of House Team Sports Afternoons where students will have the chance to compete in a variety of sports tournaments. This programme will extend to a range of STEAM challenges, Arts projects, service activities, and themed days throughout the year. We will share information in due course and look forward to seeing our students grow and flourish this year.

Here at NAISR, community spirit and parent partnerships are at the heart of our school ethos. While Covid is restricting parent access in school, we want to maintain our community spirit and continue to provide opportunities for parents to come together. We are hosting an off-campus Parent Coffee Morning and PTSA introduction on Tuesday 15 September at Familierestaurant Bergsche Plas, close to school. We hope you will join us for a chat and a catch up with the other parents. We are also looking for new PTSA members to help organise special events for our students and parent community so come along and find out how you can get involved. Parents are also welcome to gather for coffee in the front playground after morning drop-off, we just ask that you socially distance, gather in small groups, and only enter the canteen 2 people at a time. Perhaps not quite as welcoming as we would like to be, but we miss you and hope you understand the need for these restrictions.

So, the school is coming alive. The students are very engaged in their learning, developing their friendships, and will soon be having opportunities to extend their learning in many different ways. We look forward to sharing more information with you during our Virtual Parent Information Evenings and in our newsletters over the coming weeks.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Niki Meehan

What is a NAISR Superstar?
At NAISR, we use a positive approach to foster excellence both academically, personally and socially. It is a way to recognize and celebrate significant achievements in all aspects of our programme. Superstars are recognized in Elementary School for going above and beyond expectations and role modelling the kinds of academic, personal and social behaviors we value here at NAISR. Congratulations to our first Superstars of the 2020-2021 academic year!

Read to Grow
Our NAISR Library supports a Dutch charity, Read to Grow, whose sole purpose is to promote literacy by donating second hand books to children (and adults) in developing countries. We would like to collect English and French books that are non political, non violent and non religious to donate to Read to Grow. If you have books at home that you and your children no longer need, please consider making a donation to this organization. We will be collecting books over the coming two weeks, so if you have books to donate, please contact our school librarian at
PTSA Corner
Our first PTSA gathering for this school year will be held off site at the pancake restaurant close by the school. This will be more of a social opportunity for parents to meet other parents. All NAISR parents welcome and encouraged to attend!
