June 19, 2022 marks the second annual observance of Juneteenth as a federal holiday. Organizers nationwide are kicking off a week of festivities commemorating the end of slavery in the U.S. and championing the ongoing struggle for equity and justice.

Juneteenth, also called Emancipation Day and Freedom Day, marks the day when federal troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, in 1865 to tell the enslaved people that they had been freed, many months after the Civil War ended.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: CHOREOGRAPHY ROUND & THE TOP 12 DANCERS REVEALED ON 300TH EPISODE
So You Think You Can Dance revealed The Top 12 dancers and aired the first live show on the 300th episode. Missing from the judges panel, but still appearing in the taped portion, was Matthew Morrison. New judge, actress Leah Remini, described as a dance enthusiast takes his place. The show got off to a quick start with the elimination of half of the final 24 dancers. Before each performance, we saw two similar-style dancers walk up to the judges to learn their fate. One would see their journey end and the other would advance to the live shows. The surviving two dancers became partners and performed live. Here are the final pairs: James and Virginia performed a Hip Hop routine to Pop It Like It’s Hot. Waverly and Jordan pulled off a beautiful Contemporary piece to Bob in the Rain and the Lizard of Hope featuring amazing prop work with umbrellas. Beau performed a Broadway jazz number with the quirky Anna to Dancing in the Dark. Thiago was paired with Essence. They performed a Contemporary number to No More I Love You’s. Ralyn and Carter performed a jive routine by Dancing With The Stars pro Alan Bersten to I’m Still Standing. The final and standout pairing of the night was Keaton and Alexis who performed a beautiful Contemporary number to Dermot Kennedy’s Rome. It was one of the best dances ever seen on SYTYCD and brilliantly choreographed by Talia Favia. It received the night’s only standing ovation from the judges and the audience. After all the dances were complete, the studio audience voted for their favorites. The bottom four were Carter, Virginia, Thiago, and Essence. But it didn’t have to end in tragedy. It was the 300th episode, so in honor of that, everyone was safe!
