Dear Managers,

In an effort to foster clear and timely communication as it relates to Disability Leaves, Workers’ Compensation, and Workplace Accommodations, Provost leaders will receive a quarterly email, highlighting any regulatory, process, or policy changes that you and your staff should be aware of.

Nurse triage added to workers’ comp process

Injured employees will now speak to a skilled medical nurse when reporting a work injury to Broadspire, USC’s third party administrator for workers’ comp claims.

USC has implemented a 24/7 toll free nurse triage hotline at (800) 495-2315. Now, employees and managers can call Broadspire Triage Services to have specially-trained nurses immediately assess the injury and determine the best course of action for the injured worker.

Benefits of the nurse triage service:
  • Employees receive immediate attention from skilled medical triage professionals, toll free, 24/7
  • A nurse can help identify injuries that may be more serious than they first appear and rapidly direct those workers to the care they need
  • When offsite care is needed, employees are guided to medical facilities within USC Medical Provider Network
  • Translators are available when needed (over 200 languages and dialects)
  • Managers are freed from making medical decisions
  • Calls are recorded for quality assurance and case documentation
Remember to report all work injuries to your manager as soon as they occur and report your injury to Broadspire if you need medical attention or are not sure if you need medical attention.
