Performance Specifications: Featured SoCalREN Service

*New feature alert! This year, we’ve added a feature to our newsletter showcasing the many services we offer to the SoCalREN Public Agency Programs network. Learn about our performance specification services in the inaugural feature below!

Can you count on energy and cost savings to show up after construction on your energy efficiency project? Yes, if you partner with the implementing contractor that shares your vision for the project’s performance. A successful partnership starts with clear technical performance specifications on bid documents and continues from pre-construction kick off meeting to final punch list and project close out.

SoCalREN offers project support from start to finish, including providing technical performance specifications for equipment and energy efficiency measures. With SoCalREN you can be confident that communications with your contractor will be clear and that the project you’ve developed on paper is what gets implemented. We also provide recommendations for contract language specific to energy efficiency projects—nuances that may not be part of standard templates but are invaluable for smooth project implementation and securing utility incentives.

Most agencies decide to pursue energy efficiency projects, and obtain internal buy in and financial support because of energy savings projections, maintenance and utility cost reductions, and the benefits of improved performance. This, along with utility incentives and on-bill financing, depends on the direction provided to the contractor. SoCalREN’s technical performance specifications ensure that the design and performance intent of your project is not lost or derailed in construction and that upgrades are installed and commissioned for lasting performance. Talk to your SoCalREN Project Manager to make sure you’re taking advantage of our performance specifications support!
