An invitation to learn the Panopto Video Platform

If you haven't done so, please plan to visit AIDE's Panopto Webinar and Recordings. We hope everyone using Panopto at least watch the videos to understand some basics of using Panopto.

TechSmith Links

A reminder that links to Techsmith videos are no longer functional. If you need to use any of the videos that were once in your Techsmith account, you can locate them in your Panopto account under your "Knowmia Migrations" folder.
Be sure to update your Techsmith video links with Panopto links and adjust video privacy appropriately. Below are some helpful Videos.

If you need assistance or cannot locate your Knowmia Migrations folder or your videos, please reach us at

Spring 2022 Moodle Course Shells

  1. Faculty can access & edit their courses from the Moodle Dashboard about 40-45 days before the first official day of class. The "First Day" is determined by the course start date listed in Colleague's Student Information System. Faculty can check the start date in the Self-Service "Course Description." For example;

    1. Winter sections that begin on 1/3./2022 will be available to edit in Moodle on 11/22/21.

    2. Spring 2022 Moodle courses that begin 1/24/2022 will be available to edit in Moodle on 12/13/21.

    3. Late start sections that begin on 01/31/2022 will be available in Moodle on 12/20/21

If you would like to build your content sooner, you can request a temporary Moodle course space.

  1. Most students gain access to their Moodle courses automatically on the first official day of class. Faculty can choose to make their Moodle courses visible to students before the first day. Learn how to “Show your course site” early.

Import Moodle Content From Previous Semesters

Moodle Quizzes - Check Your Settings

There are many ways to use the Quiz activity in Moodle! AIDE recommends the setting below

Current Quiz Setting

The current default setting is “Attempts must be submitted before time expires, or they will not be counted.”  This can cause a student to save without submitting without even realizing it. And it means you'll see that the student completed the quiz - but you will have no way to access their results.

Recommended Quiz Setting

Select  "open attempts are automatically submitted." This way, if a student accidentally saves (instead of "submitting"), when the exam time ends, the student's work will automatically be submitted for you to grade or review.

Moodle Tip: Adding a User Override

A User Override provides specific student(s) with settings that are different from the standard class.  These could include accommodations or a student needing access to an exam/assignment for an extended period or at a different time. Check out our User Override document to learn more.

Extend Moodle Access past it’s official end date

If you need a course site to remain available - because you have students completing an IP or for any other reason, you can send the AIDE team an email and request extended access for your student(s). Learn how to Request an IP For Students.

Moodle Service Status Updates

Webex Meeting Breakout Sessions

Allow the Host (or Co-host) to assign pairs or groups of participants to specific rooms to work collaboratively. Learn about them in our Breakout Sessions - WebEx Meetings document.

Q: I can't find the Breakout session for my class meetings set up through the WebEx connector?
A: Breakouts need to be added manually to WebEx connector sessions.

Q: I get the error message, "Your WebEx authorization has expired. Please reauthorize WebEx ", when I try to create my class meetings using the WebEx Connector in Moodle?
A: Please go to your WebEx Connector, sign out of the application, and sign back in to fix the issue.

Q: Why do my students get the access denied error message when joining my class?

A: Students can only join Remote WebEx class sessions as a guest. They will not be able to join if they are "sign-in" or "login."

If you require students to host their WebEx meeting sessions, students can sign in through and not to compose their meetings.
