Dear <<First Name>>, welcome to the final edition of Community Scientist newsletter. With the Heritage Lottery Funded (HLF) phase of the Community Science project drawing to a close at the end of this year, now is a good time to look back and celebrate the project's successes so far. However - don't worry! Community Science surveys will continue and future news will simply be included in Moors for the Future Partnership's 'MoorNEWS' newsletter.

Community Science podcast

To celebrate your achievements during the HLF funded period of the project, we've put together a podcast which you can listen to here. Featuring a selection of facts and figures about the project as well as interviews with some of our volunteers, we hope you'll enjoy listening...

Volunteer celebration

Back in November a group of our hardy volunteers were joined by Head of Programme Delivery Chris Dean for a celebratory walk to the heights of Kinder Scout near Edale. Despite the misty conditions, a great time was had looking at some conservation works sites and eating mince pies!

Crisis moorland trips

Over the past two years we have had the pleasure of accompanying members of national charity for homeless people Crisis on monthly moorland visits. A huge well done to the team for reaching the summit of Kinder Scout this autumn and raising £300 in the process. From 2019, trips will continue; supported by the fantastic Peak District National Park outreach ranger team.

What next?

We're pleased to say that Community Science surveys including wildlife recording and environmental monitoring will continue into 2019 and beyond. The HLF funded period has allowed us to gather strong baseline data which should only increase in value as it is added to in the future, so please continue to keep your eyes open and your pencils sharp when out and about on the moors.

Thank you!

We'd like to say huge thanks to HLF, our project partners and above all, our fantastic volunteers for all of your input into the project. The achievements so far simply wouldn't have been possible without you. We look forward to your continued contributions and support in the future and would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
