How Humanism And Its Aspirations Translates Into Everyday Living

Saturday, September 14, 2019   1:00 PM

Kent Branch Library - 3101 Collingwood Blvd, Toledo, OH 43610

We will be in Meeting Room A

Join us for our first monthly meeting of the fall as we have a group discussion looking at how we translate "Humanism and Its Aspirations" (aka Manifesto III) into our everyday life.

"Humanism is a progressive philosophy of life that, without supernaturalism, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity.

The lifestance of Humanism—guided by reason, inspired by compassion, and informed by experience—encourages us to live life well and fully. It evolved through the ages and continues to develop through the efforts of thoughtful people who recognize that values and ideals, however carefully wrought, are subject to change as our knowledge and understandings advance.

"Humanism and Its Aspirations" is part of an ongoing effort to manifest in clear and positive terms the conceptual boundaries of Humanism, not what we must believe but a consensus of what we do believe."

We will have light refreshments.

This event is free and open to the public

How Can You Support Humanism In Toledo?

1. Join our group - obviously the best way is to join our group if you agree with our principles and believe Humanism is a life stance you can support.

2. Donate - we would never turn down a donation. We can use cash to further our programing and pay for the general operation of the group. You can donate once or set up a monthly subscription. We use PayPal but you don't need to have a PayPal account to donate to us.

3. Give through your place of employment - many businesses have charity giving as part of a benefit package. You donate an amount and in most cases your employer will match it. SHoWLE is part of the Fidelity Giving Marketplacefor those who have that option.

4. Use your Kroger Plus Card - if you shop at Kroger, you can enroll our group on your Plus card and Kroger will donate a small percentage of your total spending to us. Go to the Kroger Community Rewards page, sign in, and enroll us using our group number - XC299 - or search on our full group name. Click here for more help. If you need a Kroger Plus card, they are at the Customer Service Desk.

5. Amazon Smile Program - We are signed up through the Amazon Smile program. Amazon will donate 0.5% of your total eligible purchases to SHoWLE. We also have a Charity List of items we could use if you want to help with actual items.

6. Create a fundraiser on Facebook - If you use Facebook, you can create a fundraiser to benefit SHoWLE to mark your birthday or other milestone. 100% of the money donated comes to SHoWLE.
