How Humanism And Its Aspirations Translates Into Everyday Living

Saturday, September 14, 2019  1 PM

Kent Branch Library 3101 Collingwood Blvd Toledo, OH 43610

Join us for our first monthly meeting of the fall as we have a group discussion looking at how we translate “Humanism and Its Aspirations” (aka Manifesto III) into our everyday life.

“Humanism is a progressive philosophy of life that, without supernaturalism, affirms our ability and responsibility to lead ethical lives of personal fulfillment that aspire to the greater good of humanity.

The lifestance of Humanism—guided by reason, inspired by compassion, and informed by experience—encourages us to live life well and fully. It evolved through the ages and continues to develop through the efforts of thoughtful people who recognize that values and ideals, however carefully wrought, are subject to change as our knowledge and understandings advance.

Humanism and Its Aspirations” is part of an ongoing effort to manifest in clear and positive terms the conceptual boundaries of Humanism, not what we must believe but a consensus of what we do believe.”

We will have light refreshments.

We will be in Meeting Room A

Member's meeting and Board elections coming in October

We will be having our annual member's meeting and Board elections during the first half of our general meeting on October 12, 2019.

This is the time the current officers talk about the past year and give member's an update on the general financial health of the group as well as plans for the future. We also will be holding elections for the Board of Directors. The only requirement to serve on the Board is to be a voting member in good standing - having paid dues for the year makes you a voting member.

We can have up to 7 people on the Board and we will know shortly how many seats will be up for election this year. If you are interested let us know and make sure your membership is paid up for the year.

We will also consider any changes to the Bylaws so if you have some suggestions please send them to us at contact_us@humanistswle.org

The rest of the general meeting will be something fun and entertaining... details coming soon.
