Hello Members and Friends!

Welcome to December!

Hope you all are ready to attend some excellent programs we have scheduled this month.

Please Donate for Giving Tuesday

December 3rd is #GivingTuesday! Help us continue to build a Humanist community in Greater Toledo and Northwest Ohio. Today, ONLY, all donations made will be matched by Facebook so your donation will be twice as effective.

In one recent year, religious people donated $71 BILLION to their churches and religious groups. SHoWLE is asking for $1000 to support our work creating a space for secular people. Will you help us??

We are looking for donors who want to seed our Humanist tree and see it grow into an active group of people who don't go to church on Sundays, who believe all humans have worth and dignity, and who don't believe religion should be the basis of public law and policies.

Will you help us build a Humanist community in Toledo?

If you don't want to use Facebook to donate to us, you can donate through our website although those donations will not be matched.

You can also send us a check or money order to our PO Box address at the end of this email

Effecting Change Using Humanism

This workshop and discussion will look at how a Humanist can effect change in their community. We will review some general Humanist principles and how to apply them to being an activist or a contributor to change in your community.

We will try to answer the question if Humanists should be Republicans, Democrats, or neither.

The Community room is located in the basement just off the underground parking structure. Either enter the library from the parking area and it is on your right or use the elevators inside the front entrance to go down to the lower level and our room will be on the left. Winter Weather Reminder

As the temperature drops and we start to have snow storms this winter, here is a reminder:

SHoWLE is subject to the rules and regulations of the venues where we have events and meetings. For example the Toledo Public Library closes their branches during a Level 3 weather alert. If a venue closes due to the weather (or other non-scheduled issue) then consider any SHoWLE meeting or event scheduled at that venue on that date to be cancelled. Most likely the cancelled event or meeting won't be rescheduled.

We will try to send out notices as we know of any closings. You can find updated information on our website and our social media profiles.
