A Message From our President

As 2019 winds down, many of us will reflect on the past year. The ups and downs we experienced and maybe even set some 2020 goals.

I am looking forward to our last projects for 2019.
On December 7th some of us will support the Salvation Army and ring the Bell in front of a local Supermarket.

December 12th we are having our annual Santa Project!
Together with CARD, SIBR will put on a Christmas celebration, complete with Santa, crafts and goody bags.

I am really exited about celebrating Christmas with SIBR! This year we will meet at Shelley Anderson's Creative Catering. (See more info under events)

I am excited to see what our next Soroptimist Year has in store for all of us.
Can you believe it! We are starting to plan Microbrewfest #25!

For now I like to take the opportunity and thank everyone for their dedication and hard work towards the Soroptimist mission.
Wishing everyone near and far a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New year!

Soroptimist Sierra Nevada Region News

Regional Governor: Lane Parks
Over the past 5 weeks or so Klaus (my VW) and I will have driven over 1,600 miles to attend the Fall District Meetings. For those of you who attended, hopefully you were excited and entertained by our presentations. And more importantly gained a little knowledge at the same time!
For those of you that haven’t been to a Fall District Meeting, I don’t want you to miss out on all of the information…
Club Giving
Clubs often ask why should we give part of our local money to SIA? Aren’t our dues enough? Well the short answer is, your club should give because it comes back to our Region and giving allows us as Soroptimist to help more Women and Girls. 100% of the Club Giving money goes to help fund the Dream Programs, without Club Giving these worthwhile programs would not be able succeed. To find out more please go check this link out.
Founders Pennies
Each year, Soroptimist clubs make Founders Pennies donations to celebrate the founding of our organization and support its global Dream Programs. Founders Pennies are a classic, time-honored tradition for clubs, and a creative way to help fund life changing programs. Founders Pennies help create a local and global relationship between Soroptimist clubs and members, and the women and girls who need our support.
Laurel Society
For nearly 100 years, Soroptimist has been improving the lives of women and girls in local communities and throughout the world. Because of the unique membership structure of Soroptimist, while dues pay for member services, governance, and administration, your charitable contributions are used for fundraising and program expenses.
Stargazers (formally Monthly Giving)
Sign up to have Soroptimist debit your checking, savings or your credit card (you might as well earn points, right?) on a monthly basis. Once you have given $1000 you will receive your Laurel Society Pin and will receive additional perks.

Laurel Legacy
Naming Soroptimist International of the Americas as a beneficiary in your will is an excellent way to guarantee that women will continue to receive the help they need through Soroptimist programs. You may also choose to participate in other planned giving options, such as with gifts of appreciated real estate or personal property, gifts of life insurance, gift annuities or deferred gift annuities. You may enjoy a tax savings while ensuring Soroptimist International of the Americas’ programs will make the dreams of women and girls come true for years to come.

Fun SUDS with SI Chico at The Commons Social Empourium in Chico
Thanks to everyone who came out. We are planning a couple more of these fun evenings in 2020!
Every month we will introduce a Member!
Meet Valerie Miller, Attorney
I have been a Soroptimist since 2002, first with SI Chico, and now with SIBR. My husband, Bob Persons and I have lived up here since 1982, when we left San Jose for Paradise and Chico,  We met in law school at Santa Clara University and have been together ever since. We have practiced law together for a very long time! We love to ski and do outdoorsy things, particularly if we can bring our chocolate Labradors along.
I like the comradery of Soroptimist, and to be able to help others outside of a professional relationship.
Soroptimist Orientation and Leadership Training
Dash of SOLT.......
As the world changes, we must
evolve as well. To ensure the future of Soroptimist, we are engaging multiple generations of women with our mission ... women ready and willing to advance our mission. To that end, Soroptimist developed an online activist community of change-makers. With over 140,000 supporters, provides opportunities for people who wish to support our mission in new and exciting ways. supporters raise awareness about some of the most serious challenges facing women and girls today, including domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. supporters help more women and girls access our life-changing Dream Programs. Soroptimists are encouraged to sign-up at and invite their friends and family to do so as well
