News:

Caifornia Public Utilities Commission and California Workforce Development Board Sign Memorandum of Understanding

Following Governor Gavin Newsom’s recent Executive Order to accelerate climate change mitigation efforts and build a more sustainable and inclusive economy (EO N-79-20), the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) and California Workforce Development Board (CWDB) announced today the signing of a first-ever Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to ensure investments in clean energy and transportation sustainability result in high- quality jobs and greater access to career opportunities for disadvantaged Californians. Employment Training Panel Awards $8 million to Train 6,300 Workers

The State of California’s Employment Training Panel announced that it approved 28 contracts worth nearly $8 million in job training funds for 6,300 workers. The Panel awarded $131,008 to Trillium Pumps USA, Inc. to hire and train 100 employees in the manufacturing industry. Read more here.

New Enhancement Speeds Up Processing of Unemployment Claims and Reduces Fraud

The Employment Development Department (EDD) has dramatically increased the speed in which unemployment claims are processed automatically and decreased the risk of fraud. The new ID.me tool helps streamline the process of verifying a claimant’s identity. Its implementation has assisted EDD in 85% of unemployment claims being processed automatically, an increase from 60% prior to the implementation of the EDD’s two-week reset period. Read more here.

Cal/OSHA Training Academy is Now Offering Courses for Employers and Workers

The Cal/OSHA Training Academy is presented by the California Department of Industrial Relations, Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA). Online training courses, guidance documents, videos, and other helpful resources on a variety of occupational safety and health topics are available. Read more here.
