As a way to prepare more students for rewarding careers and to create connections with regional organizations and employers, Red Deer Polytechnic will host its 2023 Career Expo, along with Spring Open House, on Thursday, April 27 on its main campus.  

 Red Deer Polytechnic is proud to collaborate with counselors, teachers, exhibitors, industry, and community members to offer an educational and immersive experience for students to explore a variety of careers at the Polytechnic’s 2023 Career Expo. To complement Career Expo, Red Deer Polytechnic will also host its Spring Open House on the same day, showcasing its impressive programming, services and facilities. 

Grade 8 to 11 students are invited to attend the first session on April 27 from 9 am – 3 pm, providing them with an opportunity to learn about the range of Red Deer Polytechnic’s industry relevant programs. In addition, students will have the opportunity to engage with central Alberta employers and increase their awareness about a variety of careers through hands-on and interactive displays. 

From 5 – 8 pm, employers will have an opportunity to connect with high school and post-secondary students, along with community members, who are ready to enter the workforce or are seeking a career change. Red Deer Polytechnic will also offer program presentations, guided tours, interactive activities, and free program applications for prospective students.

Do you have students interested in helping others to help themselves? The focus of social work is on the interactions between people and their social environment. The program examines how to help people meet the demands of daily life by helping to increase their access to resources, services and opportunities as individuals or within their communities. Students will learn to identify gaps and challenges in those systems, and ways in which they can be addressed.  The social work diploma program can be taken on a full-time or part-time basis.  This program has unique entrance requirements including not only academic requirements, but also a personal essay, 100 volunteer or employment experience, reference letters and interviews.  Scheduling of interviews for all completed application packages received by February 14 will begin February 17.  Completed applications will continue to be accepted after February 14 until all seats are filled.  

Students who do not meet the academic entrance requirements, or have not completed their non-academic requirements, may want to consider academic upgrading or open studies pathways.
