The UC Davis Center for Reducing Health Disparities Partners With Sacramento County Leaders to Promote COVID-19 Vaccination

Featuring the CTSC’s Community Engagement Director, Dr. Sergio Aguilar-Gaxiola, these brief clips engage multiple Sacramento leaders in raising awareness of the continued importance to vaccinate against COVID-19. Through its new program Tu Historia Cuenta, the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center is improving the survival odds of Latinas by seeking them out in the community and connecting them to resources to prevent, screen or treat breast cancer.

The California Institute for Behavioral Health Solutions (CIBHS) Invites you to the Virtual
2022 Behavioral Health Practice Symposium

 June 7th - June 8th, 2022
9a.m. to 2p.m.

Each year this symposium brings together behavioral health practitioners, administrators, agencies, funders, and advocates to learn more about effective behavioral health practices, approaches, and strategies. This year's symposium will focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) for people receiving behavioral health services.

Dr. Sergio Aguilar-Gaxiola will be speaking on exploring the benefits of adopting the national Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services (CLAS) Standards and meaningful community engagement to inform and develop community-defined quality improvement (QI) plans to reduce stigma, improve timely access for underserved marginalized communities, and provide equitable services.

  Spanish-language Interview with Lotus Radio on CalHOPE

Dr. Sergio Aguilar-Gaxiola speaks about CalHOPE, a Crisis Counseling Assistance and Training Program funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and run by the Department of Health Care Services. The public can speak with trained staff via the program’s telephone “warm line” at (833) 317-HOPE (4673) or the CalHOPE Connect live chat, which offers safe, secure, and culturally sensitive emotional support for all Californians who may need emotional support relating to COVID-19.

MOVE IT UP COVID-19 Vaccine and Testing Project

The MOVE IT UP project, the Health Education Council, and the Our Community, Our Health project are sponsoring a Health Zone that will be offering various health services to the kids and families attending. The Health Zone will include:
  • COVID-19 Vaccines
  • COVID-19 Rapid Testing
  • Mental Health Screenings and Referrals
  • Vision Screenings
  • Many other health services, including information on nutrition, health insurance, dental care, and food resources.

The MOVE IT UP project continues offering COVID-19 testing and vaccinations throughout Sacramento and Yolo counties.  All vaccine and testing clinics are free and no insurance is required or needed to receive a test or a vaccine.

The UC Davis Diversity, Equity & Inclusion invites you to the 2022 Advance Award Symposium. This symposium brings together the research and commitment to mentoring, social impact and public outreach of our speakers. This year the symposium will feature presentations by three of the award recipients on the topic of "Inclusivity and Ethics in Data Science" and a poster session.
Undergraduates, graduates, and postdocs involved in data science research are invited to submit an abstract for the poster presentation. Topics in inclusivity, equity, and ethics in research and data science are encouraged.

Capacitación para Fortalecer las Habilidades de los Supervisores

Thursday, May 26th, 2022

During this 3-hr training in Spanish, participants will:
• Reflect on how to take a leadership role in supporting safety and health in the workplace, without overlooking production goals.
• Discuss practical ways to support their company to comply with the requirements of two Cal/OSHA laws: Title 8, §3203 Injury and Illness Prevention Program and Title 8, §3203 COVID-19 Prevention Emergency Temporary Standards.
• Review methods for conducting effective training of workers as a tool to        improve health and safety.
