Dear Retired Players and Families,

I've become aware of two disturbing developments within NFL Disability that affect cognitively impaired players.  The Plan seems to be purging its disability recipients in two ways.  First, some disabled players who have been approved for both T&P benefits and 88 Plan benefits have been notified that due to an "administrative error" thousands of dollars in medical expenses paid by the 88 Plan should have not been paid. It's less clear if they will try to force repayment. This would leave disabled Former Players who have been diagnosed with dementia and Parkinson’s Disease in financial ruin. This Here's a copy of the letter we obtained
The other issue we're hearing about is players who've qualified for disability based on cognitive impairment--some eight to ten years ago--are being declared "not disabled" and therefore disqualified for further benefits.  The Plan had a Board Meeting yesterday in New Orleans where the fates of the affected players were to be determined.  Impacted players should receive notification of a decision within the next week.  While I'm hoping for the best, based on past behavior, I'm expecting the worst.

I suspect that when these players were examined for continued eligibility they were subjected to the strict BAP protocols used in the NFL Concussion settlement with the objective of not qualifying as many players as possible based on levels of functional impairment such as hygiene and social interaction as opposed to memory and cognitive skills being fairly evaluated.  It's unclear how many players have been affected but if my understanding of the criteria is correct, there will be more to follow.

We're currently in the process of an intensive investigation of the Disability Plan and are coordinating with some major media contacts who may be able to help us expose some of these atrocities.  This gif of Groom Attorney Michael Junk / Josef Stalin pretty much conveys my thoughts since Stalin is remembered for his own diabolical purges.
If you-ve been impacted by these developments or know a player who has been, please get in touch with me.  You'll only be on the record if you desire to be identified, otherwise, our discussion will be confidential on background.  You can reach me through our contact form or by replying directly to this email.

I'm wishing everyone the best as they attempt to navigate this new minefield and am attempting to do all I can to get as many details as possible and help to the degree I can.  If you haven't been impacted by this or difficulties in the Concussion Settlement, please consider helping us to continue our work It isn't cheap but I feel it is necessary if any of these wrongs are ever to be righted.
